I’m putting together an Easter weekend at DLR. So is Fire of the Rising Moons the same fireworks as Mickey’s Mix Magic, just that you hear different music/voiceovers? First off, if it is, I’m really impressed with the synchronization that requires… just trying to understand how it works.
Yes, it is the Mickey Mix Magic fireworks and there is a different soundtrack played. It was originally synced to Wondrous Journeys, but works okay with MMM.
That’s good to know. We watched it for my birthday last year and I was amazed by the synchronization too, especially the Duel of the Fates bit. That’s like my favorite John Williams bit of music of all time. I’ve wondered how it plays for the other shows that have different FW bursts.
Even if the bursts are off from the music, if you at all like Star Wars, the music soundtrack they put together is so good. And view of the bursts from GE is incredible. If you like booming FWs it’s one of the best places to watch (and feel them). And they have a droid in the MF area (up on some of the overhangs that are closer to the spires) that starts off the show too. So it’s a really overall satisfying experience.
It was actually synched to the Pixar fireworks, not Wondrous Journeys. It worked seamlessly with those. Not sure what it will be like with Mickey’s Mix Magic. Maybe they have changed it to match? It’s a very cool show. I mean the music is incredible! How can you go wrong? And it’s easy to find a good spot because everywhere is around the Falcon is a good spot.
I couldn’t remember either. I was thinking yesterday “Did we actually agree to skipping a night of Wondrous Journeys to try out FotRM and we liked it enough to pick that on my birthday over Wondrous Journeys?” (Wondrous Journeys is our favorite favorite favorite show of all of them ever in any park).
Makes a lot more sense that it was Pixar, because I don’t think I would skip Wondrous Journeys to watch in GE (and yet I had). I would however skip MMM for it any night.
Same. There would have to be some crazy reason I agreed to it, but somehow I figured it was possible yesterday. Pixar fireworks definitely make a whole lotttt more sense.
And now I am remembering last year we were trying to juggle seeing FotRM, Pixar FWs, F! and WOC on our Spring Break trip and trying to keep everyone happy by seeing each one once definitely and twice at least for F! because it was newly back. And so I had like 14 (ok, I think it was just 4 and we cancelled 2 once we figured our final plan) F! dining packages all over the place to best fit several possible scenarios.
I think the best thing about it is that if you really want to watch a show and it has the FWs, it’s not very hard at all to get a spot. Focusing on those silver linings!! We’re holding out though for the 70th, give me all the Wondrous Journeys and PTN!!!
Very smart! We have cruises in April and June that our vacation funds already got spoken for, and so I don’t think we’ll be able to sneak in any DLR until maybe July-August but for us it’s most likely next year . If the 70th were going to be starting around our cruise leaving San Diego for Spring Break, AND if Magic Keys were available to buy, I think I would’ve been able to convince DH. He wanted to try to go while we were already in CA, but the price for tickets was and they didn’t have Magic Keys that we would be able to use available to buy. So, SeaWorld and Legoland it is for us this time!
YAY! He’s got 15-16 months from the start of it in May to get you there since they will have it go through next summer too (so probably until Labor Day weekend 2026)! So he can start saving now!
Unfortunately they will stop a lot of it (Wondrous Journeys for sure) from August 22nd for Halloween fireworks and then Holiday fireworks, and who knows when it will return in 2026. So to me the only guaranteed times are this summer and next. They say 15-16 months, but at least 4 are getting shorted (Sept-Dec).
