ETA also 40 miles is a long way in the UK, especially on a school night.
The airport is only about 20 mins away and if I still worked there I would have gone and said hello in departures.

Early rise this morning 
We’re on our way to the airport…
Via Tesco because DHs new shorts for travelling in still had the security tag on 
It didn’t trigger the barriers on the way out when we bought them, but they did trigger it on the way IN to this one

Security was a breeze this time compared to the last trip.
I set my alarm for 0630 this morning and we were through security before 0810 
Total doddle!!

We went to the airport so early last time because of your experience and we were through security in about 5 minutes. I’d rather be early then late though!
