Export plan to another account?

Hello all. I built out my Touring Plans in my account, but I would like to export them to my dad so he has them in his account as well. Is there a way to do this? Last year I just rebuilt every single one in his account - such a pain!

There’s a “Share Plan” button if you use the web page. I’m not sure if it will save to his account but he would have access to the plan but probably not be able to update the plan in real time.

Yes, that’s the problem. We like to have one person keep the original plan while another person is fiddling with it, in case we ruin it. I guess we could just do a copy in the same account, but I just know one of us would get into the wrong plan by mistake.

Great idea! Can you copy a plan that someone shares with you? Like once you open it, do a save as? I’m willing to test that out if someone would create a dummy plan and provide a share link.

Nope. There is no such thing as Save As. What we need is an Export/Import feature. I submitted a suggestion. But I think I also submitted the same suggestion years ago, so I am not holding my breath.

Sad

Other than the specific edge case you have cited, offloading a Touring Plan away from Touringplans’ proprietary platform would serve little to no value to legitimate TouringPlans users. It would however have the potential to expose some level of trade secrets. The functionality you are seeking would be best served by a transfer to another user within the Touringplans platform.

However implementing such a transfer would undermine the limited access to the set of Premium Touring Plans currently provided to paid subscribers. Strengthening the access control mechanisms may not be cost effective.

If your need is limited to Undo functionality as opposed to a full backup, that already exists in the Web Interface. At the bottom of a plan there is a timestamped list of the results from prior iterations of the Scheduler (optimize and evaluate) that you can restore.

I think you best option would be for both people to share an account for the purpose of “fiddling”, with a copy of a plan being made for the fiddling. I’m not sure this is allowed within the terms of agreement, though.

All three of us are paid subscribers. I just spent an hour or two recreating each plan manually into the other two accounts. Time consuming but not hard. Thanks for explaining why this feature is more difficult than one would have thought! I confess I don’t think about cheaters. We pay for what we use.
