Epic Universe Touring plan issues

What are the thoughts on going to Battle at the Ministry first vs. Mine Cart Madness first? TP is saying mine cart first but past data from thrill-data looks like Battle is a better bet for a shorter time at 10am and Mine cart is going to be long no matter what.

Hey Ryan, shot this over to the team about the typo, interface, and wait times.

Thanks!

I would do Mine Cart first (of these two) but honestly neither are technically open for EE, so I would do Mario Kart.

I think so many people go to Mine Cart and BatM first that they get them out of the way in the morning and the afternoon waits aren’t as ridiculous.

I’ll take a look at our EU wait time estimates later this week. And we have someone looking at the app. If there’s anything else with the app that looks off, please post it here.

I’m generally suspicious of the recent posted wait times at Epic, for a couple of reasons:

  • The park is still capping attendance at around 16K or 17K guests, due to ride capacity and reliability issues.
  • A posted wait of (as an example) 240 minutes at Mine Cart Madness would represent 1/5th of the entire park in line for that one ride. 300 minutes would mean 1/4th of the park is in line there.

We have ~300 actual wait times from Epic since August 1. Ministry is the bulk of the highest waits. But even then, we have many actual waits of < 35 minutes for Ministry in the evening, which is where I think the optimizer’s putting Ministry for full-day plans. I still think that’s the best strategy.

Maybe this is a feature request, but I’m wondering if there is a ā€œmodeā€ where we use posted wait times, rather than reported wait times, for creating a touring plan? In the many years now that I’ve been using the TP app for Universal (as opposed to Disney), I have found that almost always the Universal app’s reported wait times are far closer to actual wait times than the values TP uses. I’d personally prefer to plan at Universal using posted wait times than reported wait times as the source of truth.

I’d endorse what melcort10 says about Mario Kart v either of those 2. Apart from anything else it is very reliable (85%) vs BATM (65%) and MCM (55%) so is much less likely to ruin your plans from the get go.

I should’ve mentioned we don’t have EE and will only be at Epic until about 3 maybe. BatM, Monsters Unleashed, and Mine Cart are our main priority for rides! We aren’t major ride people.

Did I miss when you are going? It is a tough choice because I know there will be a ton of EE people in line in front of you for Mine Cart and BatM.

I think I would do Monster’s Unleashed first. Then eat/shop until perhaps you see a drop in Mine Cart and then do BatM. Let’s say Monster’s takes you 10-11, Mine Cart will probably be 2 hours for most of the day, so I would get in line around noon and then BatM at 2pm.

TP is still saying if we go to Mine Cart madness right at 10 we will have a 7 minute wait :upside_down_face:

Ah ok so soon! I still don’t think that rope dropping Mine Cart is the way to go but it might be a valid option.

BatM and Monster’s (I think) are both indoor, air conditioned lines. If you have to spend mid-day in line, it might be better to be in those lines. Mine Cart is shaded but not inside for all of it.

HA wow. I will tell you that it tried to say the same about Toothless and I was about 10th in line and waited 30 minutes. AND the land didn’t open until 10am.

From what I’m seeing, Monster’s rarely has a long line, so you can push that out to a busier time of day.

Do you remember? Oh wait … wrong park, wrong ride.

That’s what I was thinking! I’ll see what this Sunday is like with wait times, but still, who knows. I like the idea of mine cart earlier before it gets hot hot but we’ll see.

Based on the reported times, Sunday has the lowest Epic Universe crowd levels by a significant amount, so if any day is going to have a short wait, it will be a Sunday.

I was wondering about that! Fingers crossed for a little luck but I won’t get my hopes up too high. I am just happy we get to see it! I just can’t decide which way to go lol.
