Keeping your head against the headrest prevents whiplash. If you are able to relax & “go limp” that will help as well. However, most people cannot & tense up knocking their heads against everything. (This is what happens to my daughter!)
Something that actually helps a lot is putting your hands up. Not just for the thrill of it. But when you put your hands up, you tend to naturally NOT put your had back against the headrest, unless necessary. You tend to be more relaxed, and just flow with the train.
I’m wondering now…if this is the reason I never find RRR to be very rough at all. Like, at all. Never can understand why people find it rough. But I NEVER put my head back, and I pretty much always ride coasters hands up.
Right - I’m going to test this when we go in August - I always put my head firmly against the rest, and I find RRR too rough to be enjoyable! We shall see. You know, for science.
Absolutely love this performance art. Never change.
To quote the musical:

Universal Website Update:
Well that’s fun! When they say you can spin as much as you want on the dragon racers does that mean it’s like Dumbo with a knob you can move to spin?
You know, I didn’t have much thought about this land. I am not a fan of How to Train Your Dragon. (And by that, I just mean I saw the first movie, and thought it was good, but never bothered to watch the sequels.). But the immersion they are going for here is downright impressive. It will probably mean I will need to watch through all the movies at some point before going.
The only information I can find says…
“Guests can control how “wild” or “mild” their experience will be as they perform high-flying, gravity-defying, swooping and soaring skills that are necessary to earn the accolades worthy of a true champion dragon racer.”
The ride system is found already at various amusements parks. It is a Gerstlauer Sky Fly. They just themed it to HTTYD.
Can those be controlled too? Or is that a Universal addition. And is it per ride vehicle or the whole arm? Because I don’t like to spin that much but the kids…
Okay cool per vehicle so my kids can go crazy and I can try not to throw up!
I think we overlapped at the same time!!

Right as I put up the picture, you asked the question!!
Ditto to all that. I’ve only seen the first one when my kids were younger and thought it was alright but not extraordinarily memorable so I never saw the sequels cuz by then kids were older and not interested.
I’ve only seen the first one as well. DD22 has seen a few of the movies and is looking forward to this Portal. I like Fyre Drill! I love playing the carnival games where you spray water at a target!!
You are actually controlling the wings, which in turn affects your flight experience.
They have one of these operating in the Mall of America in Minnesota. It is the first time I ever saw one in person.
I will be there in about a week…maybe I will pay to ride it with my son and see how it is and report back.
Yes that and the roller coaster are my two things I’m most looking forward to in this land although it looks like the dragons in the show might be pretty neat too!
But anytime I can compete makes a ride so re-ridable!
