It’s going to be sooo hard waiting to go! I just wish we knew even what quarter of 2025 it will open!

Another coaster is in full testing!! This time it’s the werewolf spinning coaster! Pretty big “spoiler” if you don’t want to see it in action…

But…a boring one if you ask me. I was really hoping this would have a bit more excitement. I really have to keep telling myself it is more a kiddie coaster, hence the boring design elements. I’m not sure this coaster will have very high capacity, at least from what I can tell, which will mean longish lines…which is particularly annoying, if true, if this is targeting younger riders.

I hope I’m wrong on all accounts.

I think this looks amazing and so fun. Reminds me of Guardians with the rotation!

I think Universal could use more Kiddie rides. Love the looks of this!

It has been reported that this is more of a “family” style ride. More intense than Hippogriff and the upcoming “Trollercoaster”, but not full on speed like Velocicoaster

There is a ride very similar to this at the Six Flags I used to work (St. Louis)

Back in my day it was called Tony Hawk’s Big Spin. I think it’s called Pandemonium now

My family loves that Pandemonium ride. I once rode it twice in a row, and I was out of commission for several hours. Something about the spinning being independent of the roller coaster made the spin much more intense.

I was training on a number of rides, but not this one. I spent the majority of my days working at Mr. Freeze! I would ride it everyday

You used to work at Six Flags St Louis?? How did I not know this?? I live in the area! Yes, it is Pandemonium now.

Yep! I was there in Groups Sales / Ops / Entertainment from 2003 - 2008. I was there for Groups Sales & Corporate Sponsorships. However, every office person has to be trained to work within the parks too! We had events every spring & late summer for school groups & etc… All the kids that are staff are in school at those times! It’s “All Hands on Deck” days for those weeks.

FOR THE RECORD - THIS PICTURE IS FROM 2020 BEFORE I DECIDED TO LOSE 40+lbs!!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I love this jacket! It’s lightweight, but made out of a material that is very wind resistant and warm. I still wear it in the spring and early fall!! It was made for people that have to stand outside in the cold.

SFSL Trophy

I truly loved it and wanted it to be my career. When the economy crashed (and a hostile takeover of the SF Board of Directors) in 2008 a lot of people were laid off. It was quite a shock as they had “assured” me that Sales was “too important” and “I was one of the best sales people in all of SF” to be laid off.
All lies!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :exploding_head:

I was cut on one of the first days they started lay offs! My position was Outer Market Sales (TN/AR/MS/GA/KY) so they just cut everyone working remotely. I’ve kept in touch with many people from there. Almost no one is still employed by SF from those years. It’s a shame! There were people working there that had 30 - 50 years of experience & LOVED what they did…

I will say they gave me two months salary when they let me go. That was nice! Many people later on just got kicked out the door.

Outside of SF, but still in “family entertainment”, I’ve worked at Blockbuster (3 years), been a tour guide at Graceland (2 years), Ran a horse carriage tour operation (six months), Operated a laser tag facility (3 years), Did a “college program” style program at the theme park Warner Bros. MovieWorld in Australia - Ops & Entertainment (2 years)

SFSL did ask me twice to return - the second time was an offer with a promotion! However, I would’ve had to relocate the Eureka/Washington area. My wife has no roots or connections there and did not want to relocate. (It was the smart thing in the end! SF has been in chaos ever since 2008. Who knows if I would’ve lasted. They’ve had multiple years of layoff since. Plus, there’s the Cedar Fair merger now…)

That’s all so cool! Except for the getting laid off by Six Flags part…are you originally from the St Louis area then? I’ve lived here my whole life.

Edit to add: My kids at that time were too little to really enjoy Six Flags, but I did go every year to accompany our school choir in what is now called their Music in the Parks choir competition.

As an outer market sales exec I got to work remotely from my home in Memphis. (I was doing it before it was cool! :sunglasses:)

I was, basically, a traveling salesman. I was on the road though all those states promoting business to SFSL. It was common for me to be gone Tues. - Fri. during the offseason. Once the park opened I was on the road making sales calls and working at the park from Easter to August. (Rarely home at all . Living at hotels. It’s why I don’t hang out at hotels when on vacation)

Then a mix of back on the road & home each week until the end of the year. However, we got to take the entire month of December off. (Plus PTO as needed) As a sales person I could “leave early” for my winter break as soon as I got all my accounts to pay their bills. I always got them turned in by Thanksgiving!

Working at SFSL I was trained to work Ops at:
Mr. Freeze (Not reverse yet!)
Batman the Ride
Superman: Tower of Power (now gone)
River King Mine Train
Screaming Eagle

For Entertainment I was “friends” with Tweety. He and I had been “friends” full-time in Australia. Once that was known I got asked to do it at every event I was working, but not overseeing…

Oh! I have been “in charge” of the park for about 90 minutes once! I’d often have to be there to oversee all the company picnics & concerts. Someone from Sales had to do it every weekend. Since I was, typically, there to assist my own clients I would volunteer to just work all day. This gave my “local” coworkers/friends the weekend off. This meant I’d be the person Guest Services, Catering, Entertainment & etc… would ask for assistance for anything related to the private events, concerts, Music in the Parks & etc… I had authority to authorize whatever I thought best.

This put me in a park “chain of command” with every division having a number 1 - 9. Sales is #8. That means seven other department heads have to be absent or off property / unable to be disturbed before they get to me. You never think it’s going to happen until they call out “805!!!” (05 being my own number) on the radio… I was totally perplexed when it happened. I even made them confirm it as if they’d just asked for a nuclear attack to be launched!! Sure enough I had to run down to Guest Services and handle everything and anything until another department head showed up. I was having to approve things for other departments and dealing with the angriest guests that GS can no longer handle!

My apologies to everyone!! I never meant to write something so long! I’m bored today!!!

Enjoyed reading all of that! I’m interested in how it all works.

Being in charge like that sounds terrifying

I was told I did not handle it well! (Nothing bad! I just panicked and was overwhelmed. Plus, I had to get yelled at by angry guests that were in the wrong, but wanted me to let them do it anyway AND give compensation  )

People are awful sometimes, even when they know they are in the wrong.

WOW!! Full speed testing on Starfall Racers!! I truly believe people are overlooking this coaster. The portals are all very interesting, but this is right in the middle of the park. It’s almost a park icon!
