Yearly inspections. If I was going to guess the ride installers didn’t torque correctly then.
Epic started previews last April 17th according to what I could find. Would they suspect something to do an inspection at 10 months or it’s it a year from testing?
Probably not 10 months. The original inspection before ride testing could begin was probably on the order of a year ago, so if a follow up annual inspection found something that is wrong (such as the bolt issue, which Ryan suggested in his video as a possibility), then they now have to go back and fix the issue. If it IS a bolt issue, he pointed out that every single bolt would have to be re-inspected or possibly replaced, depending on details.
It’s likely that the in-house maintenance noticed something not right and then called the state inspectors out.
I went on March 16th - so exactly one year ago today (wowzers, can’t believe it has been a year already!). They had one day of preview before that…so they started running it with semi-regularity on March 15th I think. They would’ve had to clear inspection before that.
Oh! March 1st was the start of team member previews. Did you go during those ? I only saw the AP. There was an April 8th announcement?
I think @bebe may be right. Having a February “annual” inspection just seems early.
Stardust didn’t start operating on April 17th.
I did go during those!
Team Member Previews started March 1, 2025, then Friends and Family Previews after that.
April 17 was for “Select Guests”
Stardust was operating on March 1st.
It had it’s first “valley” in March.
The ride also was testing and operating with Team Members before that. Hopefully more people start talking once the ride is reopened.
Hi there! I’m planning a UOR trip for next summer and torn on how to set up my split stay. So I ask you:
Would you rather…
- Start your trip by visiting Epic Universe and staying at a value resort, but end your trip with express pass at USF & IOA and staying at a signature resort?
or
- Start your trip staying at a signature resort and using express pass at USF & IOA, but ending with Epic Universe while staying at a value resort?
Which is the better way to end the trip with a bang – by visiting Epic Universe or by staying at the nicer hotel??
I faced this exact question and ended up taking option three:
- Stay at whichever resort you want and getting 3- (or more) day, 3-park passes with EP for all days.
This ended up costing me about the same as either of the options you mentioned if you were going to get EP standalone for Epic. The reason for choosing this third option was because 1) I realized I may want to visit Epic more than just once; 2) it gives one ride on every attraction each day across all three parks; 3) separates the choice of resort from desire for EP, which can result in money saved.
This may end up costing more than what you are proposing if you weren’t going to get EP for Epic, but from what I’ve learned, really you should unless you are Ok missing some shows and just want one time on each major ride.
Just to directly answer the question though, I think I would want to start with Epic. But then I would also worry that by doing so, I may wish I had changed my plans and had more days at Epic.
So maybe your safer bet is to end at Epic.
Perhaps I should have mentioned that this is a first time trip to UOR for all of us. (Well, I was there once for a smidgeon of a taste in 2000, but I don’t think that really counts.)
More in favor of 3 day tickets will all parks as Epic stays open a couple hours later than the other parks. USF & IOA stay open until 7pm or 8pm while Epic is open until at least 9pm, sometimes 10pm.
This.
Ooh that is a bit different. But actually makes my “third” option even more attractive.
That said, if you are sure you won’t want to change your mind, I think starting at Epic makes sense. You will appreciate the nicer hotel and the more laid back feel after the novelty of Epic.
I think there is a decent chance that by next year there will be some kind of deal for mutli-day tickets… or do you think that’s not so likely? I’m also open to more than 3 days if that seems like a good idea.
