We have been watching older episodes of Disney in Detail, and we are up to September 2019. Victoria was participating in a World Showcase Tour in Epcot, which frankly looks amazing and something I might be interested in doing in some future trip. (As well as Keys to the Kingdom.)
But…I see no evidence of such a tour listed now. Does anyone know if Disney has dropped this as a tour, or if it is something they do occasionally but not always?
Gotta start planning for 2027. You know how it is.
No. This was them being shown each of the pavilions before park opening and given a lot of background info, explaining all the “secret” cultural meaning, etc.
I don’t recall the specifics. If I come across my Birnbaums from 2010 I’ll look into what those were. I didn’t pay super close attention because 2010 was our first visit and I was “poor” back then with tours not even a possibility
We went in February 2020 right before everything closed and this tour wasn’t listed. We specifically looked at tours for that trip and went with Wild Africa Trek. There are lots of things that people blame on covid that actually disappeared before.
Here are 2 that we have done. Future world tour took you into all the private lounges in Epcot, one of which is now Geo 82. The backstage tour walked around WS and gave a behind the scenes tour of the American Adventure. Then the tour went to MK for lunch and the Utilidors. I really wish they would bring more tours back.
It was a fantastic tour. DS and I did it on New Year’s Day 2017.
We saw a wedding at the Italy pavilion, complete with Cinderella’s coach and white horses. We also went in to the World Showplace marquee and saw all the ice sculptures from the night before. And all the fireworks barges were still out on the lagoon , so we could take photos.
With WS opening at 9am now it would be hard to run it I guess. The tour started at 8am from Mexico and by 11am we were at Morocco. Luckily most guests were heading for FW.
I’m sure it could. But a) there was a lot of going back stage, through doors, gates in every pavilion, that are in open view, much more so than in KttK. and b) it was noticeably more difficult to move around as a group once guests were let into the park.
Even starting at 7am would only give 2 hours of empty WS, which was part of the fun.
Admittedly, part of the appeal of the tour wasn’t JUST because of the information, but because it was an opportunity to see it when there was no one there. So, yeah…I didn’t think about how a 9 am opening would make that problematic.
Yeah I mean I get that. Arguably one could say the same about MK. But, if I could have the tour even with people in it I would prefer that over not having the tour
