Hello, all. We’re planning to be at EPCOT on Sunday August 9 (TP Crowd Level 1) as part of a 5-day WDW stay (Aug 8-13 at All Star Sports). We’ll use early entry and a LLSP for Guardians as insurance, as that will be our only day at EPCOT. Most of the family really don’t want to be out in the extreme heat for long stretches, so I’m thinking we will focus on the front of the park (Celebration, Discovery, Nature, etc.) from park opening through lunch, take a mid-day break by walking to Beach Club for some AC/snack/possible nap, and wait to walk World Showcase until after 4pm. Am I missing something major or does this plan make sense to maximize our 1 day at EPCOT in the August heat? Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.

I have often done a similar plan and it worked out great. One thing you will need to keep in mind is that since afternoon rain storms are common in August, you will want to be flexible with the timing of your break. You may need to stay back at the hotel longer to wait out a storm. If you’re lucky it won’t rain at all, but it’s good to be prepared.

If Test Track is high on your to do list, I would definitely get it done in the morning because it’s susceptible to weather closures.
If you get caught in the heat (or rain), maybe take advantage of one of the several movies at the Epcot pavillions. Or spend some time in the aquarium. Epcot is spread out but it has a lot of options, in my opinion, for resting and getting out of poor weather conditions.

Any young kids in the group? If so, I’d consider heading back to your resort for your break. I know it takes more time, but by doing EE, walking to Beach Club mid-day and then returning to the park from 4:00 pm-???, that is a long day especially in the August heat.

@BryanAir have a wonderful trip trip! I was in Epcot last month and the France and China movies were great to cool off. Plus, they aren’t CG—it was so refreshing to see retro film — men with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths and ancient Renaults— instead of the all the perfect whale shots, aka Soarin’.
