Ive heard that disneyworld now allows everyone in the parks early up to certain spots in each park. Does anyone have any info on how this works differently than in the past when only those with early entry can go in first? We just dont want to be blindsided and lose any time getting to the first rides in each park.
Everyone who is staying on property can get into any park 30 minutes before day guests. It used to be one park was the EE park but now anyone onsite can go to any of them.
If you’re asking does the rope come down early for everyone, it does. Onsite guests get herded in one direction, from which they can access the EE attractions, and day guests are herded in another direction, where they are held.
Yes, I believe magic kingdom was the first park that started this. Everyone goes through security and the turnstile and can move up to a certain point. To continue to the areas to access attractions, you will need to scan again. For example, there are ropes past the plaza restaurant. You will enter that area and they will scan you again to continue . At MK they allowed me to go to an attraction line early and wait. In AK, they held the group in Asia before we could go to Everest at EE.
I’m not an expert - just someone also doing research for an upcoming trip, so I can’t speak to the impacts of the change. However, Disney tourist blog had a blog posts recently about rope drop at Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom that explain the procedures at those parks. The one about Hollywood Studios talks about the potential impact to on-site guests getting one to second/third rides. DFB also had a post from earlier this year about early entry at MK.
There are also a couple of YouTubers with recent videos about early entry/rope dropping. I find those helpful to visually see where they needed to tap in.
