DVC Booking & Rental Combo

We are planning an April 18-25, 2026 WDW trip. I have 236 SSR points available to use. My parents have always been planning to join us and are Marriott people. They were looking at a Swalphin hotel or the Renaissance to get early entry with us. I can’t book until September and was going to wait until closer to decide which DVC we would book at based on what was available. Then we’re having a casual conversation this week and my mom says she might be willing to splurge on a Disney hotel. Her eyes lit up when I said we were thinking about the Polynesian. (We stayed at CBR back in 1991 and I think that was her last on property hotel, but everyone knows the Poly!)

We split between BWV and the Polynesian last time and I literally love them both the same. I don’t mind split stays but I was leaning towards forcing my family to pick one just for the ease and I kinda got screwed by my order of split stay last time. I think this is still kinda on me to decide which one.

Question for the group is do I book a DVC rental now for my parents at one (I can get them a Duo Studio or actually even a BWV studio) and then hope for the best for me to be able to book there in 3 months? What would you do in this instance? Points wise it is 181 for a Poly studio but 227 for a BWV 1-bedroom.

I think I would book for them now - especially since the duos are so limited, as is BWV overall

I think you’ll have better luck with an OG Poly studio closer in than either of the above accommodations closer in. Especially as people will flock to the tower for a while yet.

I agree about Poly regular studio availability. I was actually pretty surprised to see the duo-studios wide open.

Now DH is contemplating a split with Poly and a 2-bed at BWV which is probably only going to be available for a short time. But may also solve some of the rental problem. We could fully rent the 2-bedroom and then I could book 2 regular studios myself at the Poly at 7 months. We like the feel of the longhouses better anyway.

Ok DH is pretty serious about the split stay. Thoughts on 4 nights in a 2-bed at BWV (rental) and then 4 nights in two regular studios (all my points) at the Poly. We’d be at BWV on Monday night and Poly on Wednesday night so MAYBE we’d get to do the deluxe after hours this time!

I think this sounds like a great way to do it. And you can do laundry right before you switch, and then move to a small break from the parents for the 2nd half of the trip.

Oh awesome point about the laundry!

Big downside of studios!

I think there was laundry in our building the last time we stayed at the Poly but with the in-room we can crank it all out before we switch.

Now I just need WDW to keep their word with the Deluxe Evening Hours!

Is this where I mention that I have access to EP extended hours on Monday but have no plans to use them?

Though I could duck in if the mood is right…

We had a great time last trip without them, I’m just bitter that we had planned to use them and they changed them!

DVC Rental Store request submitted but not owners yet… Debating if I also do David’s.
