Droid Depot Questions

DD10 and DS7 recently asked if we can “make the droids” on our next WDW trip. We’ve never done this before, but plan to make res for our fall trip.

Do you book this online or on the phone? We are staying onsite so will have 60+ day advance booking access. Any tips for what time of day to try to book? How long does the experience typically take? We will book 2 builder spots for the kids and DW and I would both go in too to be the “guests” to supervise the kids.

Any other tips for Droid Depot?

We plan to be at DHS from Noon-close and will likely have both LLPP and LLMP. This is a short WDW visit for work/school reasons and since we saved on hotel costs with less nights, we have a decent budget for each park day.

It’s not hard anymore to get these ressies. So I would plan around your plans. Staying in GE to play a while is fun.

I would set expectations ahead of time of what you are willing to pay for. The back packs and personality chips are extra. I agreed to a chip but not a backpack but they kinda make it seem like they come with a backpack so there was some disappointment for DS9.

It wasn’t busy when we did it which was nice. You’ll need to carry them around after so factor that into your timeframe.

Fwiw ours still get a lot of use at home!

The experience actually doesn’t really take very long. It depends mostly on how long it takes your child to decide what they want.

They pick 4 different components out of the pieces that are flowing on the conveyor belt. Then they bring them to the work bench and assemble them. I would mentally allocate 30 minutes but it won’t take that long.

I think this is what we would do.

This does not sound like fun because I know what will happen … DW and I will be carting them around.

They will give you a cardboard box like a build a bear at least.

I got tired of carrying around the box all day when I made mine (but we park hopped) and wished I had done it later in the day or dropped it at the hotel before I park hopped.
It is fun to hear them interact with the other droids in Galaxy’s Edge.
As a super indecisive person, the actual experience took me forever…lol. But, it really doesn’t take very long if you know what you want.

I typically recommend to my guests doing it after lunch just before their midday break for this exact reason
