I just purchased an AP, but don’t want to activate it until we go in April. The website says I can’t buy the passholder Epic tickets until it’s activated. Am I gambling if I wait? Will I possibly get shut out? Thanks!
I know they sold out in December but I believe they opened up more tickets.
I think the bigger concern may be price increases since they use dynamic pricing?
Will you be solo or is everyone getting APs?
I did see that there are already several sold out dates surrounding Easter weekend. You may want to check your dates!
Is it possible to activate an AP without being on site now? I was thinking for some reason that you had to be.
I’ll be the only one with the AP.
I don’t think I can check until I have an active AP. Catch 22!
I believe you have to be onsite. I’d prefer not to activate it until our trip because activating starts the 12mo clock, right?
Can you buy one day Epic tickets for people without APs?
Yes
Ok, that is a change. I wonder how that works. I had to call and the 1 day ticket was added to our APs.
Here is the AP Epic 1 day calendar;
Thank you! Looks like more sold out days than the regular tickets. And it’s only $30 cheaper, so probably not worth gambling over!
The worst part is that my girls will have 5 day 3 park tickets and can go to Epic any/all of those days. I’m going to have to pre-select the Epic day for my ticket though. And I guess for Express Passes too. This has taken some of the beloved flexibility out of Universal trips.
Epic needs more than 1 day! Hold on to that AP and just buy yourself the same tix as your girls. We went some part of all 4 days we were there last week.
Ugh! Realizing now that I waited too long on mine!
We went during previews, so we’ve had the chance to see it all already. More than 1 day might still be nice.
I’m not sure how many days we will end up in the parks at Universal because of DD8’s competition. Might be 2 days, might be 5 days. The price difference between 2 and 5 days is $171, but the difference between 3 and 5 is only $43. So it seems like it’s worth just buying the 5 days so we have that flexibility.
And you’re right, I could just hold on to the AP and get matching tickets. I can’t use my AP merch discount until it’s been activated though, can I?
I had forgotten that you had already been to Epic. And with DDs competition you might not have too much extra time. I think the AP has to be validated to use the Merch discount. We never buy merch. I bought an $18 Epic Universe Christmas ornament and the $6 upgrade on the Donkey Kong ice cream for the cup. $24 total.
My DH and kids each spent $0 on merch.
The suggestion has been made that I have a merch problem
And this doesn’t even cover Christmas ornaments. My Universal Loungeflys aren’t on display yet, and I have a whole collection of Harry Potter stuff waiting to redecorate the boys’ room. My Disney collection definitely dwarfs my Universal collection, but it’s catching up fast!
Is it too late to book a VIP tour for April (the not private kind)?
ETA - I’m pretty sure I’ve had to purchase at least 1 new suitcase on 3 of my last 4 trips ![]()
I’ve got some great Disney luggage sets now though!!
Holy moly! I do love how you displayed it all, especially all the popcorn buckets. I do have that many or more magic bands, but that mostly stopped when they stopped being free!
What are you using to hang up the ears?
Right now you can only book for the last 2 weeks in February (at least at Epic). Not sure if they just release a small amount of days at a time?
@kerrilux_625778 when I went to epic with an AP ticket, in the early summer, I wanted to change my epic day based on forecasted weather. Guest services took care of it without an issue. I imagine that is still the case so maybe just grab a couple tickets for yourself and they can adjust things later if need be
Great intel!! Thank you!
