I was hopeful last year when Disney was testing a drone show at Disney Springs that we might see a drone show come to WDW…but a year after that show ended, crickets.
So they are experimenting again (DL). One thing I’m wondering about is where the drones would fly? I’m not familiar with the DL area, but having drones flying over guest areas would not really be a safe idea. (Wasn’t the drones used at UOR cancelled because of drone failures where they fell into guest areas? Or am I imagining that?)
At WDW, drones could fly over the water at DS, or over the lagoon at Epcot for shows pretty safely.
I was almost accurate (unofficially). It wasn’t due to a failure of Universal’s drones, but they stopped the show almost immediately after a drone show elsewhere led to an injury of a child. So the presumption is UOR decided not to risk it and cancel their drones.
I’m hearing they may be coming back in November. 
A third night of drone testing!
