Disney Springs Thanksgiving Weekend

We are heading to the World the Saturday after Thanksgiving this year. Our normal day 1 is heading to Disney Springs. Wondering if DS is extra crowded the weekend after Thanksgiving or if it is just normal crowded? Or are the locals busy shopping elsewhere?

I can’t speak to that day specifically. But DS is terribly crowded on ANY Saturday. I can’t imagine it will be any better, if not worse. We don’t really like going on Saturdays, especially as you approach the evenings, as much as we love the Disney Springs vibe any other time.

Good point about Saturdays. We generally fly in on a Tuesday or Wednesday when flights are cheaper. Thanks!

We have gone the week after Thanksgiving (starting on Sat) twice and loved it! Saturday was the most crowded day everywhere but it clears out as the week goes on. Have fun! If you go to DS, remember you can book ADRs on Open Table for many of the restaurants and they open booking windows earlier (like 90-100 days out I think, instead of 60).

We went the Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2023, and then the Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2024. In both years, I found DS to be wall-to-wall people. It was hard to do anything except go with the flow of traffic. There was no gazing at the Christmas trees or crossing from one side to the next to stop in a shop. The Legos store had a long, long line to get inside. It was pretty much an introvert’s nightmare.

Oof. My thanksgiving plans have us headed to Disney Springs for a dinner at Raglan Road on the Saturday night after thanksgiving. Sounds overwhelming. There just isn’t another/better day in our schedule, save lunch on Sunday, and then you give up the RR entertainment. Lots to consider…

If your intention is primarily RR, then you should be fine. Just will be lots of crowds getting there.

If your intention is to enjoy the vibe and ambiance of DS…well, that’s trickier. It can be literally shoulder to shoulder with people.

This was a Satuday evening at DS in early December 2022.

Yeah, not awesome. I was thinking check out Disney springs but we will cross that off our list and just go to raglan road.

Fun fact my cousin works at Gideon’s as a pastry chef, and she will likely join us for dinner that night with her husband. Wonder if she can help us avoid the 2+ hour VQ, lol!
