Disney Refugee's Universal AP trip

No one is getting texts from me.

I could use another app or service, but that still doesn’t fix this issue which I need long term and such

Very strange.
Sorry I have no other help to offer past the reboot
Hope it resolves itself (even if randomly and with no explanation)

IPhone or Android?

After calling AT&T it looks it’s my wife’s phone…WHEW!

She seems to have sorted it out. The old texts from all morning didn’t go through, but new ones are working

I started to stress about my text issues and noticed that I was actually hungry for the first time in awhile. I stopped in the Today Café to collect myself and grab a bite. I love Reubens so I ordered The Carnegie.

It came with potato salad which was pretty bad . However, the sandwich was good. A bit pricey for the portion though. (I’m still kinda hungry)

Headed back to IOA to close out the trip with night rides on coasters!

This is how I feel about all potato salad.

I think it was just very old…the potatoes were dry and chewy. It was an overwhelming ranch sauce too!

Jurassic Park River Adventure has not opened all day. I’ve been on numerous times this week. The T-Rex finale has been glitchy often as well. I will say that when it has worked it’s perfect! The fog at full blast and full range of motion.

Am I wrong or did the big wooden gates in the ride say Jurassic Park on them? It’s the Jurassic World emblem now. Also, the ride entry only says “River Adventure” and the boat decals are “JPRA”

I guess they’re trying to subtly convert the Land to Jurassic World.

Saw the Raptor Encounter was a 10 minute wait so I jumped in. (Most ppl want to meet Blue instead of baby) Luckily, I met Blue earlier in the week.

WOW! It’s definitely the start of the weekend! Just got over to VelociCoaster and it’s the longest queue of the week! It wraps all around the exterior before even going into the main queue.

It says 70 minutes… That may coincide with sunset at this rate anyway, but I’ve been spoiled with less than 15 minute waits all week.

Glad I refilled my Freestyle on the way to the ride!

UPDATE - the queue has picked up pace. I’m close to the lockers, which mean I’m about 60% there. It’s been about 30 minutes. IME - I am about 20 minutes away

It wound up only being about less than 10 minutes from my last post. Yea! The TMs were really doing a good job at expediting the queue.

It’s still about 20 minutes before sunset. I’m back in the queue with a posted 45 minute wait. IME. It’ll be 30-ish. The queue looks more normal and doesn’t go outside. I guess they scared off people try to decide what to ride before closing.

If I get my “night ride” and the park is still open I may run to Hagrid’s for one last ride this trip.

I will add that VelociCoaster has spoiled me with how smooth it is. I like RRR and never thought it was rough as I’ve heard people say for years. Now, I feel every turn and bump! (Still fun though)

Another tip - I know it sounds silly but if you can wear pants/shorts with no belt and leave your watch at home (or remember to store it in a locker) you’ll breeze through all the rides with metal detection. I have passed handfuls of people stuck waiting for a hand wand search after they fail the detectors every ride.

It was not quite as dark as I wanted when I got to the ride, so I opted to wait in the separate queue for the front row. (best seat for a great view anyway)

I had to let about 4 groups pass in front of me, but it was just right for a night ride when I boarded.

I’m glad I did it, as it was pretty. However, I don’t think it adds any extra thrill.

I ran to Hagrid’s and threw my bag in a locker at 10 minutes until park closing. The posted wait is 80 minutes with no single rider. However, the end of the queue is where I’ve waited closer to 50 minutes. I think they want to scare away everyone walking past after the Hogwarts Castle Projection Show.

I’ve probably said it before but this one is a “must do” in the dark

This is probably my last ride of the entire trip. I need to be in a Lyft & on my way to the airport no later than 10am. I’ve been awesome at RD all week (brag much?!? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) I know I can most likely run and squeeze in a single ride and then run back to CityWalk. However, I think I may just sleep in, not worry about anything and explore my breakfast options. (Or just scarf down the remaining half of the Big Pink doughnut I still have! )

The Hagrid’s preshow has never been on. I think I’ll pop onto YouTube, watch it and pretend it was on! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This is cool. This is great. My mom will be with us and not really into rides. She knows what she likes to do at WDW, and this seems like something she will really enjoy while she meanders.

Good for you! YAY!

Not yay.

also not yay

I wasn’t planning on Margaritaville until… now.

WTG! How many day tickets? (SOrry - I am reading in spurts.)

good to know!

Awesome!

I make the best potato salad.

I GOT FRONT ROW AND MOTORBIKE SIDE!!

A perfect end to this Awesome adventure!

Think I’ll head to the hotel, grab my swim shorts, head to the pool and grab a cocktail to celebrate!

I’ve heard good things about the “Disco H2O” that uses Skittles syrup and candies.

Those are my kind of drinks!

There is sooo much streetmosphere at Universal! There’s rarely a moment without show, characters, stilt walkers, “cavalcades” or a parade

I made my peace about missing the Mardi Gras parade. That VelociCoaster breakdown was the only significant I experienced the whole trip. I did swing by the Tribune Store today. It’s well themed to the history of Mardi Gras and all the parades with small floats and secions of large ones on display.

I did get on Popeyes barges today so I really have done every ride and all shows except fir the Mardi Gras parade abd the Universal Cineamagic Celebration (I didn’t know it was only going to be performed on Monday night. Even Guest Services didn’t know the schedule! I later fiund it onthe Orlando Informer website!)

I arrived around 1pm Monday and was in the parks by 2pm. I leave in the morning. Going on weekdays vs. a weekend really makes a difference the crowds are 4 - 5 times larger today than any day this week. (Plus, the day it gently drizzled rain all day and scared everyone away really helped me knock out 90% oof the rides in one day)

I know we all preach it here, but to really take advantage of Early Park Admission you should be pulling into CityWalk an hour before park opening.

Hope your trip goes as well!

So…this was the final night this week I didn’t hang out or eat in CityWalk after close. I’ve never had to wait for a bus. Tonight the queue was full and extended out past the entrance.

To Universal’s credit, they had every bus possible out there and the line constantly moved.

I’ve been so pleased with Universal. They offer a full experience at basically the same price as 2019. No theme park reservations, no lighting lanes or genie and really no drama at all. Can’t wait to come back, but will probably wait a few months so Mummy and Posiedon are back online. (Or HHN, whichever comes first)

I still have almost a $150 dollars on my food card and with no expiration date I don’t feel like I have to buy a bunch of snacks to stuff in my suitcase!

@AccioVacation - I did pick it up the AP at vacation planning desk. It only took a minute and they evwn gave me a handful of discount coupons for food and activities around CityWalk

Awesome! Thanks for the reply!

Oh no! No preshow for Jimmy Fallon? I was going to force my kids on this one in May just for the preshow!! Does anyone know if that’s a thing now or was it just one time? (Sorry, I’m late to the party )

@nixfam. I’m guessing it was because it was a slow weekday with no waits.

If you are coming on a weekend, you may have better luck. I’d ask the TM outside before entering to check. GL!
