Disney Refugee Brings a Buddy

Agreed. Worth it to stay at the same hotel. You’ll have a chance to check out the other hotel on a future trip.

Will you still try Bar 17 one night?

Skyline (?) view?

I just got home, dinner done & etc… the rate is still there and I feel like logically it makes sense to switch.

My heart wants to try something different, especially after seeing the robots on the halls!

I’m fortunate that this is my biggest concern! I just want to express that because I know how lucky I am to be able to go as often as I have this year.

Still pondering…

And if I do switch I doubt I’ll go over to Aventura to bar hop.

(Oh… For anyone interested Cabana Bay is still available for $109)

I don’t think I will…this is my longest trip of the year. This is when I have the most flexibility because I am solo as well. Thanks for chiming in! I need all the advice today!

I’m gonna go get cleaned up and think about it some more and decide in a few minutes

Is Aventura doing any special for HHN? I know cabana bay has a Monsters Collide room at that hotel

I had a few things pop up yesterday (as a reminder I’m currently booked CL 14-17 a Portofino, Skyline 17-18 @ Aventura)… I booked them all until I decide.

  1. Non CL @ Portofino Bay 14-17, and then exact same category 17-18 separately
  2. AP rate Cabana Bay 14-15 $109

So, current bookings total $2,311. My options are:
A. If I ditch CL I can stay in the standard room the whole time without changing hotels (and I really doubt they’d make me switch rooms on Saturday) for basically the same price… I think the total is like $40 different. Split stays at Universal are awful… they won’t even move your bags.
B. Ditch the CL and keep Aventura for Saturday night, save $200. We’re leaving early Sunday so we won’t need Express anyway, but that means switching hotels after an HHN night.
C. Stay at Cabana Bay the 14th, and then Portofino standard the rest of the time. That would save about $300, and move the hotel switch to Thursday morning which will be easier. I was planning early entry that day but seeing today’s wait times I don’t think it’s a big deal if we don’t.

Sorry I can’t be more help… clearly my mind is in the same vortex of indecision as yours. :pensive: I will fortunately be staying at Aventura for sure in November, since we got the Informer rate.

I talked to my wife about it as she’s my BFF and knows me so well. She pointed out that the reason I’m struggling with the issue is because I want to stay at Aventura and need to justify it.

Turns out just wanting something is a good enough justification. It’ll be a bit of extra work & probably I’ll miss one EPA. However, I was planning on sleeping in anyway since I was trying to stay out past 12am…

I saw your post, let me really look at it and see what I can suggest…

@Nikkipoooo

For your situation I would do option C. It’s minimal moving and saves money.

Yeah… the last full day / night of my trip we are doing this. (the day before departure)

We have to get up, go to Cabana Bay and be ready for VB EPA. It’s not as bad as a EPA for IOA, I get to sleep an extra hour. I’m only doing it as a treat for DD20. She saw CB during our VB visit I could tell she wished she was there!

(Hopefully, she won’t be so exhausted that the move is harder that it needs to be!)

When I was whining to my roommate about my conundrum I actually did say “I don’t want to switch rooms, but I really want to stay at Aventura!”, so I totally understand that!

That’s also when she reminded me that we’re staying there in November.

That’s the reason I suggested doing Option C

I have a completely solo February trip booked at Dockside, but it’s a $97 / night rate. I doubt I’ll move anyplace else with a rate like that. We’ll see!

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for February magic to happen for you!

I think if I’m saving this money maybe we’ll pop over to Howl O Scream the night we arrive in FL, or maybe we’ll do the Behind the Screams tour.

Very astute observation. You’re lucky to have her.

YES! :clap:t2:

She’s been my best friend for 30 years! (Took me almost a decade to convince her to date me though!)

I wanted to ask those of you that I engage with on my TR if any of you have been to SeaWorld?

I’m thinking ahead to February and debating adding a day at SeaWorld. It’s someplace I’ve always thought about going. My family won’t go as they don’t want to support that brand. (Which I respect)

So, February would be a good time to check it out. Low waits and no family.

Is SeaWorld worth it? I worked at Six Flags and other parks like that, so I like those kind of coasters. The animal exhibits and aquiums look great.

Orlando Informer has a promo for a single day ticket (good anytime) with the All Day Dining Included for $89. (That’s the base price of a ticket at the gate with no food)

Thoughts? Thanks!

It’s been several years, but I always enjoyed a day at SeaWorld. The coasters there are a lot of fun and I love seeing the animals. We usually skip the shows. And I have heard the newest coasters are even better.

We had a day at SeaWorld at the beginning of our July trip.

We loved it. First time for us.

The rides are amazing!! Mako is our group favourite, although DS also loves Kraken.

We splurged for the Quick Queue. It was totally worth it.

We didn’t do any animal shows, but did go into the penguin enclosure.

The fact that the ticket isn’t dated makes the promo really appealing…

Probably adding to my trip
