It boggles my mind how it took sooooo long for Disney projects in the last 5 years and they expect to get all of this done in less than 1! I guess their isn’t a ton of heavy construction though.
Not exactly a super challenging list. A new parade and a couple of new shows and two lounges are not that intensive projects Especially considering the Little Mermaid show building has sat unused for close to five years
Test Track work started in the summer. The biggest challenge will be the new show at the Tree of Life. Not closed yet (I think, correct me if wrong) and smack dab in the middle of the park so only access to the site is during after hours. I have my doubts about the time frame for this
Not a lot I’m super excited about other than Test Track and to a lesser extent, Zootopia.
It’s good to know that we have all of 2025 to ride Dinosaur.
Ugh this is pretty disappointing fir my June/July trip as I really hoped Test Track would be back. I guess Dinosaur is a small consolation as its one none of us really like much, but DS4 is currently in the “Dinosaurs are awesome” phase so he’ll get to experience it at least although it may just terrify him.
This pretty much confirms that after our 2025 trip I don’t see us returning to WDW for probably 3-5 years.
Also bummed thsat the Pirates lounge wont be open as that sounded pretty cool whereas the EPCOT lounge does little for me.
This pretty much sums of the problem with this ride, and why it’s closing. The age group it appeals to most is too scared by it. The ride is too dark and spooky. But the dinosaurs themselves are mostly unconvincing.
Do we think Winter 2025 means Jan-Feb 2025 or Dec 2025??? My older DD was a gigantic fan of a bug’s land, especially ITtbaB at DLR. When it closed in 2018 (she was 5), there were serious tears & a grudge formed against Marvel, particularly Spider-Man. Over the last 2 years we’ve made specific stops pre or post cruise to AK, partly so she could see ITtbaB. I think when we were last there (Feb 2024) we knew it was a blue sky possibility that it would be replaced.
Now we are going to be in Orlando with a few days after a cruise again in Feb 2025 and if she has one last final time to see ITtbaB, we’ll do AK and EP in that time. If not, then we’re jetting over to UOR to see it one more time before Epic. So I just need to know Disney, when is the last day for ITtbaB???
Winter 2025 means December 2025 - February 2026 (ish).
They have not yet announced an exact close date for ittbab, but I would not count on it being open much longer than early 2025.
This is my hope.
But also very clear-eyed on…
We will be in Orlando Feb 16-18 with time to spare. So as long as ITtaB hangs on to at least Feb 16, we’ll drop in for her to see it. Not that I’m stalking the calendar everyday on the attraction page for it specifically attempting to determine if a last day becomes known or not.
This is the most challenging one, lol. But I’m also not in total belief the Disney won’t fumble these “easy” projects either…
I’ve made 2 “farewell” trips for Dinosaur- a DS and family favorite. I really thought it was going away much sooner.
I was planning a big, long 2025 mid November trip for WDW and Universal. But not I’m really considering bumping it to 2026. I haven’t done Food and Wine ever or Universal in about maybe 8 years…
I want all of this 100% done by my next big trip.
It isn’t like they are tearing down the tree of life though and all the work is internal and pretty contained due to the positioning of the show space, I don’t think they’ll be super limited to when they can work on it
Be super careful with this. I took my son at around the same age and it was awful for him. He’s 27 now and still won’t go on it.
I think we’ll watch an onride video or something first to get a sense of how he may react. I would hate to scare him but its also his first and only chance to ride before it goes extinct.
Watch it while sitting in a dark closet and the volume turned up all the way.
I taught my son to “roar” back at the dinosaurs. It made it less scary because he had a mission. It’s very, very dark. My son has never had an issue with the darkness thankfully. He rode it very young and didn’t have any issues. But I was showing him my excitement and pointing out cool things (now it’s hard to see anything though). I’ve seen some parents build up the spooky or scary for a ride to their younger children. I can imagine that often backfires.
