I bought an after 5pm and after 1pm ticket for 2 adults. I spent $386 total. I would have had to pay Disney $699. The only difference is I could pay Disney with Target gift cards for an extra 5% off. I did use a CC that gets 3% back on entertainment. Hoping the convention tix code as that and not travel. As it is, we won’t be landing until 2:30pm the first day so we can realistically tap into MK at 5pm without too much sacrifice. Also hoping we can get settled in room and get groceries delivered before heading to the park, so an after 5pm tix was almost like 2:1. The second park day, the adults won’t be getting back to AoA until about 10:30am or so. They will need to unpack and grab lunch and then can head over to Epcot for 1pm where I will have stacked some LL’s and got them a GotG ILL. At 1pm they can join the VQ, do some adult things and well meet them with the 2 yr old after nap. So, I think I did pretty dang good with Convention tix!
You don’t need to find a convention for your dates, just an active convention: con tix are not tied to dates. They will likely arrive with an expiration date end of 2024 or maybe even Jan 2025 now.
Interesting. Thanks again for the details. I did see a convention in later January, so I will see what that is and if it works or not.
Do share.
I’m going at that time, planning on only 2 days at Disney.
That is a very well done on those savings!!
Do you mean Disney Gift cards from Target? Because you can use a Disney gift card for con tickets. It’s a small link option underneath all the cc payment info that says “Use another payment method” or something like that, but it totally opens up and allows the use of a Disney GC.
It wasn’t available. I checked all over. I even cleared my cart and started the whole process over. All I had was CC option. But it’s fine. The gift cards won’t go to waste, lol.
Doh! Sorry it wasn’t available for you!! I have the same affliction (money on a gift card that can’t be used to pay for tickets even at hundreds of $$$ will not go to waste).
I do not know how it is possible, but the convention ticket site is even wonkier than the regular Disney ticket site. I have had multiple times when I could not pay for con tix with a GC, so for future use: when that happened I just called in to the Preferred ticket team and they applied the GCs for me.
I usually try to avoid human phone calls, but worth the savings.
Same. 5% this go around is about $19. I’m gambling that I’ll get 3% cash back on the tix (about $11.50). But at the very least, I’ll get 1.5% back (about $6).
If there was more $$ at stake, I would have jumped back on for liner advice before purchase.
Ha! I followed the links through to where you actually choose your tickets…and they are actually MORE expensive than buying them through normal Disney channels. Exception is if you wanted partial day tickets.
So…I guess we will just buy direct.
OK, checked that site.
“Theme Park Tickets are valid up to seven days before, during and seven days after your meeting/event dates.”
A 2 day Hopper (x4) is $1,564.60 direct from Disney.
And $1,260.96 convention tix, plus a free day to a waterpark which I won’t use.
Any risk to purchasing these? Non-transferable?
I should have clarified that it was more expensive for single day tickets. Looks like it is cheaper for 2 or more days.
I didn’t get asked who they were for, only who they were mailing them to. I have to link them in MDE. Hopefully I don’t have a problem linking them to 2 different people. That’s the case with all tickets I thought. Once linked, they are non-transferable.
Ah, I guess I meant transferable to a different date if unused.
I still need to read through all of these but thought I would share…

After your first valid ticket date, you can use the app to add additional days to an eligible ticket or add ticket options. Along with your valid theme park admission a park reservation at the same park on the same date is required. Reservations can be made using the new Disney Park Pass system. Reservations are subject to availability and are not guaranteed until a reservation is finalized. A park reservation must be made for each day of entry.
The Park Hopper option allows Guests to visit more than one park per day. Guests must make a theme park reservation via the Disney Park Pass reservation system for the first park they plan to visit. After entering that first park, Guests will be able to visit the next park starting at 2 PM until each park’s regularly scheduled closure. The ability to visit a park is subject to the park’s capacity limitations. At this time a park reservation is not required after the first park, however, reservation requirements are subject to change.
For Florida resident tickets, all adults will need to show proof of Florida residency at park entrance.
Theme Park Reservation Requirement
To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid ticket or pass for the same park on the same date is required.

Oh yes, thanks!
I think they are. I didn’t have to pick a date. I will be linking mine to the 2 people tonight and can report back my experience.
The domain is the main WDW site, just customized for conventions. So still bad lol.
On my regular browser, I could not get the tickets into the cart after trying numerous times. So I went incognito and it worked. Submitted the order and it failed. But instantly got a text from my CC company, and verified the attempted purchase was me. Re-submitted the order, and success! Just saved over $300.
Another bonus is that the tix are not dated. When you’re in FL for a week, but can only use 2 standard Disney tix within 4 days, that’s not too flexible!
Thanks @ryan1 And thanks @JJT for the tip on the other thread, nice to have the ticket cards also to easily trade for the LL.
Woohoo!
