Deluxe It Up - To Infinity & Beyond!

DS created a “use everything left in the fridge” charcuterie with his EPCOT souvenir from last year.

14th floor at Hyatt Regency MCO had a great plane watching spot. Don’t recall this on our floor last year but I think I have to look at those photos to know.

(Can’t get up above the lobby floor without a hotel key card, btw.)

^ In the bottom photo, that’s a hot tub - and to the right of it is the hotel pool.

I love this idea!!

Quick update: Changing thread title to COVID COVID WHO’S GOT THE COVID.

Yep, started feeling crummy right as we were leaving FL. Masked up on flight, tested positive last night. Mostly headache, stuffiness, wiped out energy. So far I’m the only Fallen Florida Warrior, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Anyway: Oh well. Checked in with my sister and everyone there is fine. If I was already on the COVID train at the start of the week hopefully it was too early to pass on to my Mom and sis.

Ugh sorry :persevere:. At least it didn’t spoil your trip. Feel better.

I’m curious how you parked there - did you join the walk up list? Tell the gate that you were there for GP?

Boo! So sorry to hear this :slightly_frowning_face:

This trip between all of us we drove up to POFQ, POR (twice), WL (twice), and CSR and just said “We were hoping to eat at…” whichever food spot.

They were more concerned with making sure I showed my driver’s license than anything and waved us through saying Enjoy!

Note, none of these times were near rope drop or at monorail or skyliner resorts.

In the past we’ve done the same at both Pop and AoA, and only once at AoA before skyliner was open did a guard even think about it, but then gave us specific instructions where to park.

It’s really at the security CM discretion but I haven’t seen any reluctance, although I do keep the walk up list trick in my pocket just in case.

Thank you! I’ve considered geyser point with my fam - because I think they’d like both the food and WL - but I was getting caught up in the guard aspect.

Just uploaded my recording of the Disney Springs drone show to YouTube.

Can’t say there’s anything surprisingly secret about the show, but if you haven’t seen it in person yet and plan to, I’d treat it as a spoiler and wait to see it live.

Whole thing is pretty magical and more than a couple of OOH and AHH moments.

This isn’t really a Deluxe it Up topic, but this thread is sort of like my own personal catch-all, so dumping this here.

I have the full Adobe Creative Suite installed on my systems for various things I need to do for work. The latest updates had AI plug ins, so I added them - am kind of blown away how easy they make some edits!

We have a photo of DD and myself from our first family trip that we send back and forth to each other as a joke when someone says how hot it is out. That photo has a random person walking behind us and someone’s stroller etc on the side of us.

I just turned on the Photoshop remove tool… image

…then basically colored in the things I wanted to go away.*

Boom - about 30 seconds later processing time, all done. It even did a great job recreating the wall in the background!

*does not work in real life.

Thought I’d really put the AI removal tool through its paces… I had to do some very minor spot corrections after using the tool on each of the “extra” people in this photo, but otherwise, crazy.

Original:

Although, the AI does wig out when you select some shapes.

I tried it out on another photo of my DS in Galaxy’s Edge - I had used an online AI tool last year to play around - and that came out OK too, but only created a low res output image. So, I wanted to see how working on that in Photoshop at full res came out.

When I highlighted the woman on the left below, along with the portions of the people showing behind her, it replaced them with a random free-walking pair of jeans. :jeans:

In another section, there was a man right in front of DS whom I highlighted, but missed his lower leg sticking out from below my DS’s arm. The first AI removal inserted a skinnier version of the guys leg THEN on a second try replaced it with a giant water bottle!

Still, with just a few minutes playing around I went from a busy photo to something cleaner. Also, from a story-telling photo perspective, I think leaving the CM on the right in the photo gave it a little more tension - is he looking at her from a distance and she isn’t aware of him yet?

Here’s a gif version of the last one, which might be more dramatic to see change.

Just realized I never followed up the August trip with our actual travel and hotel costs -

A Hyatt points special that popped up before our trip helped defray some of the points cost of the trip. I believe I mentioned it up above in the thread (or maybe I just think I did) - but once you registered for it they gave you 1,000 Hyatt points per night when you stayed at several Florida locations - and all 3 of our hotels were included!

That was 8,000 points back to us (so almost a full free night at the HR Coral Gables).

In addition, we were given 18,000 points to compensate for the the silly, silly construction issues. (I probably could have negotiated for more, but meh.) We also earned a small amount of random points through my morning coffee and snack spend.

So, all in, ignoring SW and Hyatt room price fluctuations after I booked the travel costs of the trip added up to almost $6,000.

The only thing we paid actual full cost cash for was the rental car.
Total out of pocket for the trip: $837.

If you ignore the cash car rental, flights & hotel total costs were $5,400 and out of pocket was $270.

When it came to food, we had about $550 in Disney rewards to use, plus I had a few hundred more $ in Disney, Chipotle, Panera, & Olive Garden gift cards I purchased at anywhere between a 5% - 20% discount over time.

I did not track those as closely (nor the points I earned buying them), but it is probably safe to say we were in the neighborhood of $600-$800 out of pocket spent for food, golf, and groceries for the 8 day trip (net the rewards cards and discounts.)

Pretty darn good for 4 people these days - especially since we ate at Disney locations several times!
