Yall have snakes up north too though right? Ive been thinking about this longer than I should have
Nothing very dangerous, really.
The weather gods had other plans for us.
We waited it out in the WL parking lot until it didn’t look like the storm was going anywhere.
I dropped everyone off at valet spot to use the rest room, then Dad-Ubered back around to pick them up.
Ended deciding to try for an early Geyser lunch tomw. Scoped out a location in Celebration tonight where there was both a Chipotle and Panera and mobile ordered. Rain continued, thinking we’d head back to the hotel, but I-4 was at a standstill still, so maps estimate was painful.
We just ate in car and estimated dropped to a reasonable 22 minutes. I-4 was still nuts, but the traffic gods took pity on us and everywhere we got near it we just had to immediately exit, so not bad.
Back at hotel, Poly beach seems like a lot more work now, so we’ve shifted to Disney Springs again, think kids want to check out more shops.
Hopefully we can sneak in before drone show crowds and then just shop during early show and head out. Most importantly: Dole Whips in sights.
Wow!!
Ooo, I need that Quacked mug!!!
Was able to finagle a 2pm check out today, took it very easy, let kids sleep in. (I’m personally shot, too.)
DW headed down to Grand Cypress pool, I followed a bit later, kids in order after that.
Packed up and headed out at 2, drive back to WL to have a farewell GP lunch since we had to bail out last night. Bison burgers excellent as usual, DS loves their steak sandwich, DW got a salad with salmon on top.
Hot, but thankfully this year we had a breeze and it was nowhere near the feels like 127° temp we had there last year.
Kids insisted we get another photo of DW and I in front of Disney totem at gift shop to match the ones we took in 1996 and the last few years.
Walked slooooowly back to car, gassed up, that Audi Quattro was my fav car rental ever. So. Nice.
Took 35 minutes to get to MCO, checked in to Hyatt Regency for the night, was upgraded to a larger 2 queen with a balcony overlooking runways.
Last year my girls were NOT fans of the room overlooking security lines: noisy, random scream, something that sounded like a gunshot in the middle of our sleep! (Couldn’t have been, but still freaked us out.)
This room is away, so will just have to see if any external plane noise occurs, but so far just minor rumbles.
I gotta see a pic of this when you have time.
Edit: Oh I see it. I’ll have to search for a pic of the steak part of it online though.
If feels like it’s over too soon!!!
SO MANY CARMELIZED ONIONS in that sandwich. Also comes with a tiny pitcher of melted smoked Gouda cheese to pour on sandwich, but easily more than enough for that and to dunk most of your fries in it.
Dang that sounds awesome! I usually get a boring salad lol {puts on list for October trip should we make it to GP}
Also, big fan of the MCO Hyatt!
Nice and early, waiting at an emptier gate while an earlier Omaha flight has ours filled.
Pro tip: When you have a lot of Southwest points, consider the actual value of the Companion Pass savings when one of your kids doesn’t have pre-check. Our DD17 (for a few months) still doesn’t have her passport so haven’t gotten her on her own TSA Pre-check yet.
When she is flying on the same reservation as one of us, as an under 18 human she inherits our pre-check (most times). But as a Companion, she gets her own reservation and no pre-check.
So, I sent DW and DS through the Clear Pre-check side while we did Clear + regular TSA. Still was fine, except I have to come ready to support my office remotely, so on regular TSA security side I have to unload multiple devices to be scanned, do shoes. Wasn’t really terrible, but in a PITA unpacking, repacking. (Should have sent DS with her with his single pair of headphones and a phone, but thought she’d prefer me.)
Also, unrelated:
#NEVERFORGET
I don’t think you neccessarily need a passport to get TSA pre-check. We just recently got DS18 his own pre-check and he used his drivers license and birth certificate.
It looks like a moth
I was looking at the list and it looks like you can use different forms as well.
Right, but we were all getting passports, so was part of the plan and I had all those forms down.
Except the lady at our post office first insisted we needed a document we did not need for anyone else to submit (she was wrong), then on 2nd try she insisted both parents needed to be there (I couldn’t make it from work) when the DO State site explicitly says you do not for over 16.
This is true and saved us a bunch of hassle when the Kid’s passport needed renewing - during covid - and custodial parent was working out of state. We did need a letter from parent confirming that they knew of and approved the passport application.
This happened to DH when he tried to get a passport for DD. She was 17 at the time.
We did not need this at 17 but DH also had joint custody. I thought it was strange that he could. Ultimately we didn’t get her one. They wanted something from the school. I don’t remember. But it was wrong, they didn’t need it because she has a license. We just switched to a cruise.
