Delayed posting due to unfortunate situation

Went on the Disney Dream late last year but an unfortunate situation appeared at the beginning of January and I just haven’t had a chance.

Back in early January what I thought was just a virus turned into uterine cancer with a couple of small masses on the stomach lining. To say I was shocked was an understatement for me and my family as we never thought we would have this kind of battle. Was able to find an incredible oncologist who laid everything out, and she is as stubborn and stead fast as I am in regards to hopefully eliminating this. I have 1,000,000% faith and trust in her. I have done two infusions with a third next week.

Had a hiccup after the first where they were infections having nothing to do with the chemo that made themselves known the following evening and ended up in the hospital for 18 days.

Each day getting better, each day getting stronger the biggest hurdle is to gain the weight back. They had lost so that everything aligns the way it supposed to. After the third she’ll do a scan, and then I meet with her and she will determine whether or not I need additional infusions which I’m OK with. She wants everything to be absolutely optimal so when they do the surgery, they can get it in one swoop.

I have the most incredible Support System on this earth and there’s no way I would be getting through this without them.

appreciate any thoughts and prayers at this time.

:people_hugging: So sorry to hear about your cancer journey. :sad_but_relieved_face: Happy to hear you have an oncologist you trust. And it sounds like you have a treatment plan and that makes all the difference in the world.

Gaining weight is important in this journey. On days I didn’t feel like eating during cancer treatment, my staple was beef soup with a dozen organic veggies boiled in. I strained out all the stuff and refrigerated the soup to remove the fat.

That’s important and we are here, too! :folded_hands:

I’m sorry to hear this, but it sounds like you are in good hands. Cancer treatment stinks, as many of us can attest. But I think we have some decent treatment cheerleaders around here. Wishing you all the best!

and I just booked a cruise on the Fantasy in November with my sisters!

I started losing my hair after the first and most of the rest after the 2nd infusion. My sister found these chemo “beanies” that actually cover my head ears and neck. Got some in different colors. Decided to just go ahead and shave the rest which my brother did for me. It’s just hair & it’ll come back.:woman_bald:t2:

Sending good thoughts and best wishes your way as you go through this!

Oh my goodness.

Were you sick while you were on your Disney Dream cruise or did it come on suddenly like a virus?

the diagnosis came in early January & had no issues on the cruise.

1st infusion went great but apparently the infections were there prior & then showed up late the next day.

I’m so happy you had this time symptom free before being thrown into the fire with everything!

I’m sorry I lost track of this thread. Continuing to wish you well! Losing your hair is hard, but as you say it does typically grow back. I know there are many other less visible side effects as well, so I hope you are able to manage them as best you can. How many rounds do you have to do, and how often are they? (Obviously only if you feel like sharing).

I’ve been through 3 infusions & the Dr wants to do 3 more to hopefully continue to shrink what is there. They are placing a port next Friday to make things easier for these sessions. Will do whatever she feels is the best course of action. Eating enough is still my biggest challenge but I try my best. Strength getting better each day. Have had a few rough days with nausea & constipation, but the main issue is fatigue (naps help). My sisters booked a trip in November for the 3 of us to spend a few days at WDW then a cruise on the Fantasy so it’s helping me to get to that goal.
