Hi All, I know there has been a lot posted and discussed about the DDP. But I did some interesting math after discovering that if you have a DVC reservation you can add on the DDP. If you only have a one-night DVC res you can add on DDP. And that was the interesting math…. For a ONE-night reservation the math is in my favor, but only for a ONE-night res. It’s because the refillable mug sets it over. Tell me if I’m thinking or doing my math wrong?
Using round numbers for QS only: $13 x 2QS + $6 x 2 beverages + $6 x2 snacks + $23Mug = $73. Disney states DDP QS is $55.xx per person per night. I just opened menus at QS to price to come up w/ my totals. Anyway, for ONE day/night it would more than pay for itself….right? Did I miss something?
ETA: minus one snack the total would be $67 (thanks for catching that @PrincipalTinker )
Often it does work for one night. It is only one snack, but if you drink alcohol that would be included too. That can really change the numbers, especially in the parks.
Any more than one-day I can’t figure out how to break even so we will either try it for one day or just grab a mug. Although at OKW there are not many easily assessable refill stations to make it worth the mug. AND now having 8 separate reservations over 30 days is helpful
But having a series of 1 night stays would be annoying. Even if you were staying in the same room each night, you’d have to check out and in for each one!
I have two 1-nights, one 2-nights, two 7-nights and one 12-night (30 nights total). why… b/c waitlists and 7 months out from non-home resort reservation rules. I’ve got the last two reservations joined (12-n) but I left everything else b/c we needed to be flexible, plus I want to use my free waterpark day. When I checkin I will ask the front desk to keep us in the same room and I’ve been told they can do that. ONly DVC can join/merge reservations. IF they can keep us in the same room we shouldn’t have to move out every time. I hope. If not I’ll deal w/ it then and have DVC merge the beginning ones too.
I did arrange a split stay to BW to a 1BV over Christmas, so I’ll be able to cook a proper holiday meal. We will have to move from OKW for that and then back again
If you do get the DP for one night at the beginning of the trip, ask the CM that activates the mug if they can hit the button a few extra times to extend the expiration date. Activation is 14 days at any resort
ohhhh this is new intel I will ask, thank you. I did know that activation was longer than your stay b/c I’ve looked at the date when I’ve used mine and once @Julianne_fki gave us her mugs to use before she left to return home.
