so we get to the gathering point and get on the bus. The driver spends the 5 to 10 minute drive telling couples not to fight with each other, then we get to the port only to sit on the bus with limited and confusing information. First, she says our bus wasn’t supposed to leave until 1045 which is wrong Then a cast member comes on saying welcome to the Disney Destiny. It’s the Dream & she had absolutely no idea what she was supposed to say. Then another cast member gets on board saying we’re going to have to sit on the bus for a lot longer with no reasoning why, then another cast member gets on the bus to say that we can get off the bus. No one directing us to where we’re supposed to go. Much more coordinated going to Port Canaveral.
Wow! That sounds like a mess. Did you at least get into the terminal and boarded at the expected time?
Ack, I’m so sorry the bus situation was so confusing! The Destiny has been the star and main attraction at Port Everglades these last 2 weeks so I’m not entirely surprised they mixed up the name BUT that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence at all in the operation.
We left from Port Everglades for the Destiny maiden voyage and considered taking the bus from FLL to get there. But I heard enough reports of it not being a smooth experience that I did not want to spend the extra for it end up with a sub-par experience. And per the guests who posted to our sailing FB group(s) and WhatsApp chat, they had way more guests using the buses than usual from the partner hotels so they were diverting buses and those using transportation from FLL were being told to get a bus much later than their assigned PAT. So I was glad we got a rental car to drive ourselves and left it parked at the port.
When we got parked there were a bunch of groups being held in the bottom level of the garage but our PAT was just being let in (15 min before it started), so we were able to go right in and they were very organized inside the port and it was so busy, but not nearly as crowded as it had been in Port Canaveral in June on the Treasure. But there were plenty of people outside lined up for their PATs that were 1-2+ hours later already waiting.
