We are headed out on the Dream in October from Ft. Lauderdale/Port Everglades. Our flight home from FLL doesn’t leave until 5:05 PM. Are there any day use hotels in Ft. Lauderdale?
When we’ve done Disney cruises from Port Canaveral and flown home from MCO we’ve always gotten a day room at the Hyatt in MCO. Is there anything like that near FLL airport?
There definitely are but I don’t know them off the top of my head. In 2022 I cruised on DCL out of Miami but flew in and out of FLL. With a late flight out at something like 3pm I researched them and did find several options.
But
My family and I just cruised out of FLL and on our disembark day we took a Lyft to FLL, rented a car for the day for $60 (which gave us control of our luggage all day and transportation all around the city for the day at low cost) and went on a Segway Tour with Segway Fort Lauderdale. It was SO FUN!!! We got to see some of the riverfront of the downtown area and learn some history of the city. It was about 2hrs, after which we had lunch at a local brewery (if you’re interested I can get you the name of that too). And we were back at FLL to return the car and get to our gate by 3pm.
Way better than sitting at the airport and arguably more fun than hanging out at a hotel, too.
Yes, please send me that info about where you ate too. Did you reserve the car in advance or day of?
On the way to the cruise we are flying from Louisville to MCO, staying a night at POR, and taking the Brightline Train to Ft. Lauderdale. Initially the plan was to fly to FLL but when DH said he was surprised we weren’t staying a night at Disney, I changed the flight. He opened the door, so I just ran through it. He has also been wanting to try out train travel and this was a perfect opportunity.

It was about 5-10 mins from the Segway place (by car). It was really good if you like pub type food! We got a side of mac to share as an app and it was outrageously good! One of us got the burger, I had the mahi sandwich, one got the Tarpon chicken sandwich, and I can’t remember what the fourth one got. But everyone remarked to me several times that it was a really good lunch and “how did you find this place?”.
