Seeing there are two dance competitions in March 3/21-23 and 3/28-3/30. Do people know if these were taken into account when doing the crowd calculator? Hearing horror stories about crowd levels during and after these competitions, wanted to check/get people’s thoughts on how to take these events into consideration.
They will congest any area or line that they stay in a group. But they may also split off into smaller gorups with chaperones. Also CL’s are based on what’s happened historically on those dates, and the competitions and other school groups tend to come at their set times each year so as long as they aren’t drastically changing their time of year, they will get picked up in the historical analysis.
I have been to several comps and have been separately but at times when they are going on. I wouldn’t worry about it much. They cause a slight increase. I don’t know if they have enough of an impact to change an actual crowd level. IF it changes by 1 level I would be surprised. Friday may see some extra guests and moreso toward the evening, same with Saturday. Sunday may see a larger impact when more of the squads get cut. Sunday evening (historically) they close one park for evening private party hours. It has been MK and HS. The park hours should reflect which.
Just FYI this bit is WDW specific & won’t apply at DLR for the OP, but all your other advice for competitions at WDW is pretty much spot-on at DLR. I would be very surprised if they even increase CLs by 1. And Disney also tends to want to schedule them for weeks they aren’t AS busy so it’s more level-set for crowds.
I completely missed this was for DL!!
Oops. All of my info was for WDW. We have no experience with this for DL. I’m sure there are similarities but I can’t attest to crowd levels there.
