CPAP and Flying

I think the water helps to not dry out your nose. My DH got tired of messing with it so he just stopped using the water. It still works fine for him.

I don’t because I have a phobia of mold. I know, it’s stupid.

Oh! I need to ask him about this. He talked about replacing the hose and mask because they need to be replaced a couple of times a year.

The mask and hose can get mold even if water/humidifier is not used.

Florida may be humid enough without the added humidity for the cpap.

My DH has a system that cleans all of the tubing every day for this reason! If you have an issue with the air drying you out and need something like this - let me know!

I have a SoClean I used with my old machine, but if I use it on my new machine it will void the warranty. Also, I hate the smell of ozone.

I didn’t, either. Until I got my new one. There is a new type out that you remove the mask and hose and use UV. Since it’s not going into the machine at all, it’s something that won’t void. But then it’s not cleaning the machine, either. I don’t think UV kills mold, though. It does kill germs.

I’ve been doing this for years of flying with no issues.

Afraid I can’t help with this part as I use my CPAP “dry”.
