We’re going to California Adventure on Thursday. I did the 1-day optimized plan stating that we’re doing rope drop, and on all the morning rides, it says ‘Add LL/Multi’—does that mean that I should request LL for that ride?

Can you provide a screenshot of where you are seeing this?

No, that is a button you can press to tell the plan that you want to get an LL for that ride. If you press it, it will add a step for getting a LL.
I don’t usually use that method for adding LLs to a plan, so I’m not sure how it works after that point. I usually do manual LLs.
