We had so much fun at the Holiday tea with Santa and Mrs. Claus we decided to close out 2024 with that and a last minute trip. The resort is sooo beautiful at Christmas time. Chair savers/hogs at the fireplace was a first for us. People are so wild.
Oh you lucky girl, you!!!
Grand Cal at Christmastime is
That tree is the current wallpaper on my computer here at work!
We walked over to Great Maple and SAT AND WATCHED JOE FROM SOUL PLAY!! OMW! Yes, i cried:rofl: He is amazing
My daughter is Gluten free with a corn and sesame allergy. The last few trips Disney has really upped their allergy game. She’s gotten some nice stuff. Here is her shrimp Benedict
Whike I sat by the fireplace my daughter ran into Downtown Disney to look for a shirt. She came across the new Stoney Clover line. They sold out last Monday but are back in stock now. Prices are high, so I just got the patch
Grand Cal is soooo gorgeous. I had convinced myself I would probably never stay there. But now I think I do! Even if it’s just for a night or 2.
Be careful. There’s no going back from that.
I know. And I have now brought DH into the fold. When I mentioned staying at Pop next November for Food and Wine he said isn’t there a resort (closer to Epcot) with bigger rooms like the Grand Floridian?
He used to say value is fine because all you do is sleep there.
I adore this bag!!
As we age our tastes become more refined
Do it! You have to at least once! I prefer the DLH because I just love the theming of it so, but the GCH location is fantastic. (I do have a slight allergic reaction to paying that much/night when we can stay at a Harbor hotel that has rooms that are closer/even less steps away than some of the GCH rooms for sooooo much less a night so we don’t have any plans to stay there a 2nd time anytime soon). But it is great for a splurge-y/once (or rare) in lifetime trip.
I love that for you! So happy you got to pop down for a quick trip & looks like an amazing trip!
And Grand Californian and Wilderness Lodge are my favorite themes. I love that rustic, woodsy vibe. I don’t know when I’ll make it out there. Believe it or not DL seems overwhelming to me with all the off-site resort choices. Although… I keep toying with the idea of DVC and DH is slowly warming up to the idea (modest contract). Then it wouldn’t feel so splurgy!
Haha, I could see that! I do hate hate hate using transportation at DLR though, because there are SO many good walkable options and I’m just not used to transportation there, so I limit my looking at offsite just to what I am willing to walk (with the kids and DH) and right now that’s a much smaller footprint than all the masses of hotels that are available in the area. But we had cousins who were used to WDW come out and they decided to stay at a Marriott closer to the Angels stadium which required driving in or taking the ART bus and they were just happy as clams to do that to get a better deal on a nicer room. Because they’ve rarely ever stayed that close to any Disney park (I’m pretty sure they have family on the side we’re not related to that owns DVC at one of the Epcot resorts, so I think they’ve stayed at least at one of those once but not at all often), so they didn’t feel at all inconvenienced.
For DLR, I look along Harbor across from the pedestrian entrance and starting from the HoJo/Marriot Courtyard up on the north end down the street to Katella/Harbor on the south, and then sometimes extend that around the Toy Story lot/Convention Ctr, but even now as I’m getting older, I don’t love walking more than the intersection of Disney Way/Harbor (which is like a 7-10 min walk max to the gate), even if Katella is just one more block south, and then it’s not that much farther to walk east or west to either to hotels close to Convention Ctr/Toy Story lot (but ends up being more like a 15-20 min walk depending on the lights you get/how busy the sidewalk is if you come/go at a peak hour).
I’ve narrowed it down to just that long block in front of the entrance, lol. Still so many. I guess it’s because I’m just not familiar with most of the names. They have a couple of chains and they tend to be pricy. When I start comparing those I start to think I might as well stay onsite!
