Christmastime at DLH or DGC?

We’re planning 2 nights on property 11/26-11/28 to kick off the holidays. We’re doing one resort day and one day at DL.

I currently have DGC booked for a Woods/Garden/ Courtyard view. Just today I saw a special rate pop up for DLH premium view that’s about $150 less a night.

We stayed at DLH last September but the monorail slides were closed. Our 4 year old would probably love either hotel’s pools this time but wasn’t sure about which hotel to choose for this trip. From photos it looks like DGC has a bit more of the Christmas touch but I haven’t been able to see everything.

Any suggestions?

I personally love the DLH theming and the monorail slides are infinitely better than the slide at GCH so for me personally I would pick the DLH with the savings. Also, on your resort day, you can still go for a walk through Downtown Disney to the GCH and enjoy the Christmas ambiance of their lobby and courtyards without being a guest. The GCH is absolutely breathtaking and so beautiful at Christmas but the one thing I realized when we stayed at GCH is that all the best parts of the hotel are absolutely available without paying the top tier price for it and so I doubt we will stay again unless we can guarantee a room that looks into DCA (cuz we didn’t get that part and our room was a hike to get to if we couldn’t use the DCA gate, I.e. if DCA was already closed for the night and we’d hopped to DL to close it down to end the night or if we had started in DL but then needed to go back to the room before we could hop, which is now down to 11am so it might not be such an issue now, but when we stayed at GCH the hopping time was still 1pm so it was a pain).

I haven’t stayed at DLH yet but finally splurged on GCH last Dec. I absolutely loved staying there. We had a woodsy view room. I didn’t feel like it was a huge trek to get to the park entrance from there. It just felt so luxurious and easy to pass through their gorgeous, Christmassy lobby every time we went to the room. I loved being able to dash down to DCA during a hotel rest just to see the Toy Drummers, and then back up to the room. IMO, it’s worth the extra $150 per night for that constant ambience at Christmasttime, over the cost of DLH, where you will have to traipse through DTD crowds every time you go back to your room.
