I just tried and got through to this screen after pressing “Join” a couple of times.

So with the most recent change - you confirm your party up to 1 hour prior, tap refresh at 6:59:59, tap Join Virtual Queue - and then you’re done?

I followed the new suggestion and was able to grab my friend BG3 this morning with hitting refresh button once I saw 6:59:59. Pretty easy to just keep mashing the same place now.
