Caribbean Beach Room Types

Hi! Longtime lurker, occasional poster here. My husband and I plan to stay at CBR next March. We are utilizing a bounceback offer. When I look for room types, there are two preferred options: Preferred Room and Preferred Location. We booked Preferred Location. I tried searching before posting, but couldn’t get a clear answer. What is the difference in the two categories? Disney mentions proximity to the main pool in the Preferred Room option, but not in the Preferred Location option. We have stayed at this resort before and will be happy wherever we land…but I would like to set my expectations accordingly. Thanks in advance!

I’m wondering if @len has any ideas…but looking at the Disney website, it almost seems like they haven’t updated everything yet in the system to the new names? (Maybe there is an overlap of dates where people booked under the previously named categories, so they are still listed, but not necessarily bookable??? Not sure.)

Okay I didn’t notice this— but reservation also says preferred location…. Following along.

I wonder if preferred location is now the category for the new Little Mermaid rooms (formally pirate rooms). It would explain why the main pool isn’t listed in the description. I didn’t see a way to book these rooms specifically.

Pulled this from Gemini:

At Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, the terms “preferred room” and “preferred location” differ in meaning and application, with the “Preferred Room” being a premium category available for stays in 2025, and “Preferred Location” a newer, more flexible designation for stays from 2026 onwards. Preferred Rooms are specific rooms in closer buildings to the main resort amenities, while Preferred Location is a booking choice that allows guests to request rooms in either the closest villages to the lobby or the closest buildings to the Skyliner, offering more flexibility
