I haven’t seen any discussion of this so far today, but I for one am excited! I like shooting rides but Buzz is a dismally poor system.

Highlights:
Star cruisers will also receive a face lift with a new design inspired by the colors of Buzz Lightyear and Star Command. Each enhanced vehicle will also now come equipped with video monitors that provide real-time scoring updates and other exciting features.
Each ride vehicle will now include handheld blasters for better aim, helping guests to score even more points. These new blasters will be perfect for our younger riders , allowing them to participate more in the experience.
And, if you’ve ever wondered where you’re aiming (don’t worry, you’re not alone), these enhanced blasters will now include an always-on laser and come in two different colors per star cruiser , in addition to new lighting, sound and vibration effects, so players know where they’re aiming throughout the mission.
The static Z targets found in the attraction today will be upgraded with new technology that will allow them to react and light up when hit. It also opens the door for a few other ideas Imagineers have in mind.
To prepare for these updates, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will temporarily close in August and reopen next year. Star Command, over and out!

I saw a post about this on insta and thought it had already been changed. I wondered about such a miraculous transformation.

Me too! I don’t enjoy this Buzz but I like the one in DLR, these plans sound like it will help a lot!

I’m in the minority but I love Buzz so much more than TSMM. I could happily never ride TSMM ever again.

I saw this video from Theme Park Stop where they got invited out to Imagineering to demo the new blasters. It’s really a great update!

It really does! I’m surprised they aren’t taking the opportunity to retheme. Not sure what they would change it to but Imagineers get paid the big bucks, not me, lol.

I am glad they are keeping the theme the one in Tokyo Disneyland is changing to Wreck it Ralph.

Buzz is one of my favorites. I’m happy for this… BUT the number of rides that are not going to be open for my “take DH and the girls for one last big trip” trip is really sad.

I love both of those movies and wish they had some representation in the parks! Any “blue sky” Tomorrowland redo that I come up with always has a Wreck-It-Ralph attractions in my imagination!

I know - BTMRR and Buzz down. Hopefully they announce opening dates in time to plan. I may not need 2 days at MK next year.
