I know that it takes 5 minutes to walk from Boardwalk to Epcot as we have stayed there before - but I’m curious how the boat to Epcot works. Does it drop you just before the turnstiles? Does the boat continue on into the World Showcase or is that is a separate boat you would get on after walking through the IG turnstiles?

The boats are separate. The Boardwalk/BCYC/HS/Epcot boat drops off outside of the international gateway, outside of security and tapstyles. The boats inside World Showcase are limited to inside of Epcot, just going back and forth between 2 countries each.
