Hi, we are traveling to Orlando for a week in April 2026; original plan was to do Disney, but now thinking we may switch it up and do Universal. We currently have a 2-bedroom suite reserved at Club Wyndham Bonnett Creek, which checks important boxes for us: separate bedroom for kids, kitchen for meals (my kids are extremely picky eaters and it was a STRUGGLE to find anything that they would eat inside the parks last time we went to Disney), and a really fun pool/other activities for the non-park days. I canât seem to find anything like that closer to Universal? The only one I see is Westgate Lakes and it has very mixed reviews⌠Will the drive from the Wyndham be fine if we are only going 3 days?
I understand about the picky eating. How much kitchen do you need? Stove and freezer necessary or can you work with a microwave and half size fridge?
Would ideally have an oven for chicken nuggets and pizza (the specific type of frozen pizza theyâll actually eat, most pizza we order they donât like.) We could potentially get by with just a kitchenette, but the perks of the place would have to be really worth it.
I have no experience at this one. But there is a Residence Inn nearby with 2 bedrooms. That would get you a good kitchen space and 2 bedrooms with doors. But probably not a good pool. Generally we want a kitchen, but we have been able to get away with a microwave and fridge with table these days. So, we either look at Cabana Bay 2 bedroom or Endless Summer suites for the separate sleeping spaces with real beds. At least Cabana bay would have a great pool and bowling. You could get to Citywalk easily from any onsite hotel. We always stay on site, so not much help with others. But, Iâm sure some veterans will chime in.
Maybe also look at the Helios suites for one with a kitchen.
And I thought it was only DS8 who had a specific pizza preference. When I was a kid, any kind of pizza was good pizza!
OMG I feel this so much.

I have four kids and they are persnickety to the max.
I believe the kitchen is limited to a mini fridge and a microwave - no oven. But good amount of space.
Similar limited kitchen at the CBBR suites.
But that said, I really love the quick service at Cabana Bay. It has a lot of grab ânâ go options as well as hot meals being served cafeteria style at various stations for each meal.
Not ideal, but not horrible. I would recommend only making the drive once a day - donât plan to return to your room midday.
Iâm sure there are some good offsite options near UOR but I am not familiar with them. Maybe @JJT knows.
Thanks! Looks like neither of those fridges has a freezer, which is a pain point â Uncrustables are one of my kidsâ reliable go-tos, but they need a freezer. I swear itâs like people who design hotels have never had children.

Also apparently they are from 1994 since none of them need to charge their devices.
Unless you put veggies on it. Blech!
(But I like veggies on my pizza nowâŚjust not when I was a kid!)
I havenât done research lately, but the last time we stayed offsite was at Worldquest. We chose the location because it was in between WDW and UOR. I believe itâs a 20 minute drive to Universal.
We also chose it because of the huge space, like a big condo. And it was very reasonably priced. Itâs not upscale, so there can be small issues. That was no big deal for us, as we didnât need everything perfect.
Looks pretty nice with all the amenities of home.
We got the 3 bed 3 bath. It was 2021, we had to distance ourselves. ![]()
Wow, the fully renovated rooms look so good.
The opposite of staying in an All Star room with 4 people. Very little distancing.
In two weeks Iâm staying at the Hyatt House across from Universal for a work event. Itâs walking distance to City Walk and they have shuttles. Iâm in a Studio Kitchen Suite but they also have one bedroom suites and family suites with bunk beds. I donât know that it will meet your âfun pool / other activities for non-park daysâ but I can report back about the hotel if you are interested

We stayed at one of these in Charleston, and really loved it!
