Before You Click On A Link…

There has been a recent increase in fake profiles and suspicious links. Before you click a link:

Do you know/recognize the poster?

Yes: it may be a safe link but as always, be cautious.

No: click on their profile! Look for a recent new user that may post on a few threads. Sometimes they go back and edit their posts to add links later.

Potentially unsafe profile:

  • New user
  • Quickly read threads
  • One post (often to old thread)
  • Link added

If you see any of these posts, please don’t click on the link. We are a very diverse community and have members of our community from countries all over the globe, but these posters do not appear to be our community members.

If you see these posts, please flag them as spam. Thank you!

I think you want this to say “do not click,” correct? Thank you for this heads up.

Thanks! Posting from work on my phone and I struggled. Thanks for the assist!

The other MO I’ve noticed is these profiles resurrect posts from years ago and have some long description that appears AI-generated to go along with their bad links.

Sometimes they also have a robot as their avatar. Big red flag. :triangular_flag_on_post:

(Kidding!)

Does anyone else accidentally click on this thread a dozen times a day?!? Zurg is getting on my nerves.
