Hi everyone! Checking with those that have been in the parks recently to see if I can walk from Barnstormer to Tron without going back through the main travel point between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. On the map in MDE, it looks like the walkway is open post-construction, but I wanted to double-check that. It will change the order that we ride things.
I interpreted it as how can I get my kid to go from being ok riding Barnstormer to being okay riding Tron. Like Barnstormer → 7DMT → Big Thunder Mountain Railroad → Space Mountain → Tron. LOL
I love the direction y’all took this! All I needed to know was could I walk from A to B, but let me set the record straight…I would choose Barnstormer over Tron any day! Less wait time, lots of laughter, no awkward mounting the ride vehicle…and yes, feels like you are on it the same length of time! =)
Personally I would choose Tron. Faster, more thrilling, cooler vibe, and more comfortable IMO – I understand that is different depending on body shapes and flexibility. And it feels longer to me. I know I’m in the minority, but I think Tron lasts just long enough. I mean, I’d always take a longer ride if possible. But it works as is.
Hmmm. It’s been forever since I have rode Barnstormer. I remember liking it but it’s pretty short. Kinda like Tron, lol. @Gnatjo have you tried the seats in the back? I think I want to for science.
I have sat in the back row and like it much better! I think the ride feels overly intense for me…even more so than Expedition Everest or Rock 'n Roller Coaster. I may have to give it a third try this trip!
Interesting. I find both of those rougher than Tron. Rock 'n Roller Coaster is pretty smooth though, it’s just the speed and inversions that make it feel rougher to me than Tron. Expedition Everest can actually make me feel a bit sick it’s so jerky. Like headache type sick. I think outdoor FL coasters don’t last long. The humidity and heat take their tolls on the tracks. Like RRR at USF was super smooth and wonderful the year it opened and now it gives me a headache or makes me black out every time. I always request front row to help with that though. I wish Disney would let you pick your row and wait longer for it without being VIP like Universal does. But since EE goes both directions I don’t know that would help!
Ummmmmm. No. Just…no. It is incredibly NOT smooth.
Tron is incredibly smooth. It is just an awkward riding position.
The back of Tron is a far better experience than the front. I’ve done both. Front is fine, but the experience is so much better then further back you are, because you get to see some of the lighting effects better that happen around the train, plus seeing the lights of the train itself ahead of you adds to it even more.
As far as Barnstormer…the wait can be stupidly long for such a short kiddie coaster, but I’ve been there many times where they will run the train around the track TWICE with the same riders each time. This seems like a smart move. It is the loading/unloading that adds the most time, so running the train twice gives the kids a better experience without a huge increase in wait. I don’t know if they do that during busier times though.
RRR seems to be highly dependent on your height. I, personally, have NEVER found RRR to be rough in the slightest! But my wife has, when we are sitting right next to one another. I could never understand why people complained about RRR’s roughness. Even after all the talk about it, I would ride it SPECIFICALLY trying to figure out where it was rough…and it wasn’t rough at all.
I’m pretty convinced that there is a sweet spot in terms of the rider’s height that works well for riders. It could also be rider position. Having ridden over 100 coasters in my life, I kind of naturally fall into a comfortable riding position. Never keep head back against a seat rest, (usually) arms up, stay relaxed and move with the coaster, etc. Honestly, I have more issues with Velocicoaster than RRR (although only because of the Mosasaur Roll at the end).
How tall is your wife, because I don’t tense up and sit relaxed, etc. But I do keep my head back on certain coasters where your head goes side to side a lot and find that helps with that. I really learned that on that drop slide in Volcano Bay when I was holding my head an inch off the slide and the g-forces threw my head very hard back into the slide.
I’m 5’4" so that must not be tall enough! I’ll ask DH cuz he’s 6’5" but I don’t think he’s bothered by it either. My kids aren’t either, DD is 5’6" and DS 5’8"
Ugh. I’m getting old. EE and RNRC are both rough to me. Not Space tough. But still rough. I’ve only done Tron once and loved it. I haven’t done Barnstormer since 2011
For me, it’s the head bouncing around. I always leave with a minor headache.
I’ve always been given the row asked for at WDW. Just had to wait till the next cycle.
I am finding EE just a little rougher these days. But it’s still one of my favorite coasters in WDW.
