Just talked to a CM at Pop and as part of the refurb the resort is getting, they are removing the window boxes from the lobby and replacing them with painted walls. Half of the boxes are already gone. The 70s to the 50s are left and soon to be removed.
Another blow to unique and themed resorts in WDW. Soon they will all just be slight variations of a Marriott.

You know…I developed a habit over the course of the last several years of jumping all over Disney about their decisions to change, replace, or remove things…because, you know. Disney. Walt. History. Nostalgia. Whatever.
Thing is, after whatever it is that Disney was planning to do has been done, I’ve found myself generally happy with the results. (Not always, mind you. Ahem. whispers Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.)
So, I’m deciding to adopt a newish policy. Giving Disney the benefit of the doubt. For example…
Maybe this is true. But I guess what I’m finding is…I actually LIKE the Marriottization of the results, then, because I’m finding the end result to be beautiful. The new Poly tower, for example? Gorgeous…in spite of the naysayers.
That’s the million dollar question. But…maybe the end result makes sense. Maybe they have had issues with folks knocking into them on the walls since they jut out and it causes issues. The point of those is to harken back to bygone times…but perhaps the new decor will do the same, but in a different way. We shall see.
