Back after a year

Greetings,

We have not been to the parks for over a year now. My wife was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and was not given good odds, but after months of infusions, surgery, and radiation, my wife has been declared cancer free.

We are celebrating by returning to Disney world. We both have Pixie passes that were bought a while back (before the last one or two price increases). I have seen a few changes since I was last here. I was hoping someone could catch me up.

  • Good-to-Go days : I saw a reference to there being days that you do not need reservations, but I can not find a list of what those days are. How do I find what these days are?
  • Park hopping : Last here, we could park hop after 2pm, but only after visiting a park that you had reservations at. If I was only going in the evening, I still needed to go to a park with a reservation first. Is this still how park hopping works, or can you just to any park after 2pm?
  • I can not seem to find the heat maps (hourly crowd levels) on the site anymore. These were the best guides to use for locals, since we can to short part day trips. The hourly crowd levels were very useful, but I can’t find them. Does anyone know how to see them?

I did make reservations for Mon, Tue, and Wed to get me started. We are glad to be back, and hope to be more active again.

They are marked on the availability calendar for Pixie Passes, if there are any. They aren’t usually available around holidays and may not be declared until closer to the day.

New rules are very complicated, but if you have an AP, you must go to the park of your reservation first but then you can go to any park immediately afterward. After 2pm you can go to any park regardless of time, except for MK on weekends. (I think I have that right?)

Maybe @bebe80 knows how to find the crowd heat maps on the TP site? I think they still exist somewhere.

I had a chance to check the availability calendar and there are currently no Good to Go days on the docket. This isn’t unusual since we’re still emerging from the holidays. Hopefully they will add some for January soon. There probably won’t be any around MLK / Presidents Day / Spring Break.

Congrats to your wife!

I haven’t found them either and I used the heck out of them.

In 2022 and 2024 we rope dropped and generally stayed until about 11 or when it just seemed too crowded.

Folks do buy the Lightning Lanes (previously known as fast pass but now not free)

We do not. If we don’t like the wait time we find something else.

The time now is 10 am

If your tickets are date based you will not need a park reservation

The first week of December park reservations were still available

If you’re only going to one park and visiting only in the evening make your park reservation for that park. The entry time doesn’t matter

We use tickets that are not date based. 2024 was the easiest year yet for switching up a park reservation day before.

I think that 10:00 am time is when park-to-park buses start. Anyone with AP or hoppers can tap into their first park, then immediately leave and go to their next park.

I was thinking bus when I was typing that

This last trip we used the car a lot more - that handicap tag is a game changer

Cheers from me to your wife as well! I’m a stage 3 breast cancer survivor myself, now 10 years NED. I remember a post-treatment trip to Puerto Rico and being so proud of myself walking a hike through the rainforest, knowing I could not have done that months prior due to the energy drain. Those treatments can be so brutal. Take your time and enjoy!
