August summer trip 2026

Started this in a doc and figured if I started posting, I’d be inspired to finish.

Enjoy if you like reading poorly written lengthy novels.

Day 1
Well I’m back again to write our annual trip report. And every year I hope I’ll be back sooner (because that would mean we go more frequently). As always, thanks for letting me relive our trip in this cool space. This year we took two big trips—we went to Portugal in April to visit family and discovered the girls were ready for international travel and we had our August Disney trip. I wondered how this trip would go—knowing we had a really great international trip and how I would feel about Disney still being annual for us. Well.. we still love the pixie dust. Which makes our planning for next year.. complicated. We’ll see. This trip it was just 4 of us—first trip without my stepdaughter as she just graduated and needs to acclimate a bit to adult life. We hope she’ll be back to joining soon, but not sure how soon that will be. So it was my husband Josias, myself (Kayla), Katie age 8, and Emma age 5. Both girls were extremely excited this year, wanting to help plan and watching Mr. morrow videos daily. Katie, who has some sensory anxiety needs, did a lot of prepping for this trip. She has a history of saying she wants to do something and then running paranoid out of lines or having extreme fits. This was our biggest struggle in Portugal as she tried to exit the plane before take off when going home. We did a lot of work in therapy and at home to prep her for the trip—deciding strategies for travel, what rides she truly wanted to do, etc to try to avoid the fight or flight takeovers this year, and luckily we’ve really made some progress. We’re still not totally sure what triggers everything and think a lot is connected to the fact that she’s been a daily sleepwalker since she was 2. I share all this with an open heart so it’s kind of clear why we used DAS and why some of our biggest wins—were truly hard won wins.

So anyway we took off from Providence on the 6am flight. We like this early morning one as less likely to have delays, etc. I’m also getting better with flying as it’s very nerve wracking for me. I hate all of the Southwest changes, but they still ended up being the best option for us. I paid for slightly close to the front seats (row 8) and paid to check 2 bags. I miss when their prices were great and didn’t have extra costs.. such a bummer. But the flight was smooth, girls were excited, and luckily Katie was great on the plane (her experience in Portugal was much more closely tied to leaving family). We opted out of Mears/magical express for the first time ever after waiting almost 2 hours our last trip. So we grabbed our bags and ordered an uber. So easy and affordable. It wasn’t magical theme-wise but how quick we got from exiting the plane to the hotel was a tad magical. We touched down at 9:20 and were at Caribbean Beach by 10:15–totally unreal. Our arriving luck stayed with us as our room was ready and in Aruba where we wanted it to be. So we were able to go unpack and be back at Centertown for lunch and a swim in no time. I’m not sure if it was our location but while we love the vibe at Caribbean-the room seemed dusty and old and the ACs leaking water out every door was weird and seemed like an accident waiting to happen. On another note, we felt wildly secluded. We might have seen two other families in our building all week. Overall it did not feel like a busy time at Disney.

So we had some decent quick service and enjoyed the main pool for a bit. It was also not crowded. But we didn’t stay long as we wanted to go to EPCOT. We have never gone straight into a park on arrival day because of cost, but we got the summer promo—get 2 days free on a 4 day ticket plus free kids dining (it was a pretty solid deal). Knowing we still like our break day, we decided to use our bonus days on arrival and extending our Halloween party day by arriving late morning. This ended up being a great way to have more park time without overdoing it. And luckily we were all at least laying down in bed at 8 the night before so the early morning flight wasn’t bad.
EPCOT was a quick Skyliner ride—and security has become so easy without a stroller. It makes such a difference. We strolled to Future World and started with Spaceship Earth. Our next ride was Test Track—this was a big question mark as it’s one where we’ve had a runner before. By some miracle, there wasn’t even hesitation this time and everyone loved it. Such an awesome moment! Then we went to the Seas because Moana was closed, which strangely had a line. After, we headed to the Land to try Soarin Over USA. And maybe because I was just so happy to be there, I didn’t really have any criticisms and liked that they were trying new things. Next, got a ride in on one of my favs—Living with the Land. Got to inhale that bromine smell and float amongst the plants—the things dreams are truly made of. I often find myself wishing I could transport to the rainforest room and just breath in that water scent. Would anyone see me floating around in the back?? Anyways.. then we had dinner at Garden Grill. It’s been awhile but the food is still good. I’m not a meat lover so I loaded up on cornbread and salad. And after the summer of avoiding lettuce in restaurants I really enjoyed letting loose. The server did tell me that there’s no guarantee that the food comes from the ride, but I just imagined it did. We didn’t take too long and I really made it a point to just eat what I needed/wanted and not to force myself just because we have the dining plan—it really made for a much more enjoyable trip. I’m not much of a drinker, with the exception of a light beer on occasion so not forcing myself to order one just because I could was great. It felt good to potentially let Disney win (and maybe they didn’t as we loaded up on character meals). So leaving not fully stuffed was excellent and we headed to 3 cabs and Frozen. In hindsight I’m glad we did 3 cabs as we did not get to our full EPCOT day (see day 5 for future rant). The girls were excited to finish the frozen ride, as we were evacuated our last trip. And right before we scooted out of the park we rode Remy. 5 stars for no 3d glasses—much more enjoyable as I seem to get more motion sick as I get older, We even got to grab a German grapefruit beer to share (the reason I could never be a total non drinker). 25k steps later it was time to crash. Big wins=smooth transportation, test track as a family, kids who kept up without strollers!!

Day 2-Hollywood

We always do HS early in the trip as it’s the most challenging park. We’ve finally outgrown some rider swaps, but just generally find it the tough park to navigate. Anyways a quick Skyliner trip had us there early enough to wait under the awning. We then rope dropped Mickey and headed to Toy Story Land. Katie had insisted she wanted to do Slinky but got cold feet when seeing it. So we decided to do TSM and Aliens and then see if we could get her to rethink Slinky. We spent time looking at the track to show her it curves and she decided she wanted to get into the line but not necessarily ride. With careful pushing (thank you to our therapist) we somehow got her into the ride seat. Of course, she loved it! This was a ride that she’s run away from twice before, crying in the loading area because she wants to go but freezes. To say it was a big accomplishment is an understatement. We were so proud and she was so proud of herself. So.. she earned some celebratory Slinky ears and was BEAMING.

Next we went to the Mickey junior show per the girls requests—which we had never seen. J missed it because he got stuck in one of the longest lines of the day—Joffreys. I could not get over the line there when others aren’t bad like that. It was cute—Mickey and pals and everything kids love.. bubbles, snow, jumping. After we enjoyed the roaming characters in the courtyard and let the kids do yoga with Donald and Goofy. Love this space and wish the whole building was open. Next, we headed over to Star Wars to do Milennium Falcon. Finally, both girls can do all the Star Wars rides. We bumped into Rey and as we went to do Star Tours, Katie had a fun interaction with Darth Vader who waved at her going to his M&G. We usually eat at ABC but decided to try Backlot. It was nothing to write home about, but fine enough. At this point we pow-wowed and decided to stay in the park rather than try a quick pool break. We figured we’d catch some shows and do a slow afternoon. So we did Rise and then went to Frozen. This was more fun than I remembered. I pre-bought Lightning Lanes for Josias and I to do Tower of Terror and Rock knowing the girls would never consider riding. So we went to use our Tower one. While he rode I bought him a hat.. I add this to include a note that the merchandise this year was the lowest quality we’ve encountered. Katie’s slinky ears broke 2 hours after buying and J’s hat also had a rip and I had to replace it on our break day. Disney is luckily good about this—but why is it all sooo cheap. Anyway, Tower was a riot as when I rode solo a woman next to me got so scared she grabbed my arm and held it the whole ride and didn’t realize until the end. It was hilarious. We then headed to our Hollywood&Vine reservation. Always makes me crazy the Fantasmic packages have to dine so early, but it was a good break. The restaurant was pretty empty, which seemed to be similar across a few sit-downs on our trip. The serving staff also seemed just not that into the job this trip.. maybe it was the heat. But characters were great. After, we caught Mermaid, then Villains and I love how fresh those shows feel. Villains oddly paused the show for like 10 mins in the middle, but we really like that one. Because of the delay I was afraid we’d miss our Rock LL before Fantasmic but we squeezed it in. I really like Aerosmith, but the ride didn’t feel any different to me. Maybe I was just wiped at that point, but it seemed the same. I think it’s a strange place for the muppets as muppet vision was family friendly.. but alas.. Fantasmic was lovely and we finally caught the dragon. Overall, the best HS day we’ve had in a long time.

Day 3 Animal Kingdom

We did not do park hoppers this trip, so having already done 1.5 park days, it was nice to know AK day would be an early back to the hotel day. We also usually hop after AK so we were looking forward to not rushing out of the park. So we headed out early to make it for the early entry because we wanted to do Bluey early. Entry was easy and —no Joffrey’s line! Oo also it was our actual anniversary day. So we headed in and went over to do some quick rides on Everest for the adults and then headed to Africa for the train. We have avoided this train always as had always heard it takes forever, but alas we have big Bluey fans so off we went. It was very chill and relaxing and we didn’t see anyone else on the train. Then when we got off we wandered up to the conservation station. Emma was silly excited and when we got inside there were maybe 10 kids with parents waiting for the first show. It started almost right away and our girls had a blast dancing, doing limbo, and playing games. Then we wandered the station but nothing was really happening. Katie picked out a cute bluey dress with the castle on it as they each had a gift card for about two items. I picked up two little bracelets too for them to have for back to school (one broke in the park and we replaced, and broke also when we got home). I have since bought pieces to rethread and make a necklace (curse you Disney merchandise!!). After we got back for FotLK. We wish we knew how to get the kids to be chosen to dance, but no such luck. A tumble monkey did wave though. After, we hopped on the safari and headed over to Asia.

The adults wanted to do Everest one more time and the single rider line is terrible now. I got stuck in it, the ride was down for a bit, and the girls had meltdowns waiting for me. Overall, a bad experience. This AK day was HOT. I always thought HS was the worst for heat, but this park was the only one that did me in this trip and I was in the best shape I’ve been in years. So everyone was flustered and we did a ride on Kali where Emma kind of freaked out. It was time for lunch and for us to reset. We love yak and yeti and I made the horrible mistake of trying the sangria. Terrible move on a really hot day. I definitely got severely dehydrated with stomach cramps but kept powering through. We realized we wouldn’t have time for the bird show which Josias likes and I felt bad. Bluey definitely took up a lot of time that we hadn’t used on previous trips. So we went to Zootopia and once again I’m prob getting older and softer but I really liked it. And I loved not running out of the exit with the kids. A+

After we headed to Pandora and went on Flight of Passage. This was Emma’s first time and she loved it. After, the girls had pandora drinks (which were not so good) and we sat out a quick rainstorm. Then we did Navi River, which I needed after the 3d show and Avatar. It was then time to head out. I was kind of beating myself up for missing things and not feeling great enough to really enjoy this park as we do love AK, but the heat just hit. We walked over to Rainforest Cafe and I begged to cancel our reservation as I was definitely not up to a sit down meal. It took a little pushing but they finally did and then we bussed back.

Because we were in Aruba, we used Riviera transportation so we went inside and just kind of collapsed in the lobby. After sitting a bit and sipping a Powerade, I felt a bit more human and suggested i just buy us quick service as Primo Piatto. I knew I had to pay for 1-2 out of pocket even with our dining plan and I wasn’t up for much food. I ordered the hummus platter which was the perfect thing to get something in my stomach to recover, without making things worse. Feeling better, we spent the night by the pool. The main pool has such a fun vibe at night. I also brought Emma to see Goofy in the lobby, who was wearing pjs. It was adorable. While it was definitely a harder day than anticipated, we recovered quite nicely. And now I know to drink 10 million electrolytes before AK in the summer.

Day 4: Magic Kingdom and Halloween Party

This day was amazing.. hands down 10/10. We slept in and after having a pool break were ready for a nice long day at MK. We were planning to get in the park around 11 and just kind of enjoy and hit some rides and shows before the Halloween party. We also had BOG booked to give us a nice long afternoon break. Instead of heading to the food court at Carib, we decided to skyline to Pop Century for breakfast. Pop is one of our favs and it gave us an excuse to ride the Skyliner. I don’t know why I didn’t realize that Disney quick service does such great breakfast but it was a nice way to start the day and just love the smells of POP. Josias didn’t understand why we didn’t stay there, he doesn’t love the atmosphere of Carib as much as I do and likes how close everything is at POP. After taking our time at breakfast, we bussed into MK getting there a little earlier than planned. But we could live in this park so no one complained. It was so quiet being a party day. We started by taking the train to Storybook. The conductor was switching shifts and also decided to ride the train so he rode with us. I got to ask him about working at Disney and he showered the girls with stickers and cards. It was awesome. Then we got off in Storybook and did Barnstormer, Dumbo, and Under the Sea. This worked out great so we wouldn’t have to go back here during the Halloween party.

After we headed to TRON as I bought an ILL for J and I to get a quick ride in. I was a bit giddy at how I fit in the seat much better and my knees didn’t ache (I’ve lost a bit of weight this year and have been hitting the gym 4x a week) so TRON was a nice little victory for me. After there was basically no line for Space so I suggested we do it regular before the party. I sent J first and took the girls for icecream. I got a dolewhip lime float with sprite and was in heaven. I can’t eat dairy so this was delightful—I’d been dreaming about Dole Whip all year. After Space, we rode Buzz and what an upgrade— I can actually hit targets! Then we headed back to Fantasyland for Mine Train and Enchanted Tales. The girls got to be Mrs. Potts and Chip. Then it was our reservation at Be Our Guest. We haven’t been since Emma was a baby as we don’t think it’s a great value but they wanted to try again. It was so strange as there was like no one there. A few people in the West Wing and maybe 3 parties in the main room—the music box room empty. We had a slow enjoyable meal and while I still love the atmosphere, I won’t do again until they add characters or quick service. At least this time there was swordfish. Still the quiet part of it was nice. We then put on our costumes, which were feathers and leas—as we were the 4 host birds of the Tiki room. Josias always makes fun that I pick obscure Disney stuff, but I promised him people who get it and they did. Our only other time we went we were the main lands at MK. We did PhillarMagic—Katie really wanted to have magic hands like me and catch gems in the Little Mermaid scene. This was making my magic gem catching complicated. So I dropped some near her seat and convinced her she must have swept them down and that she’ll have to keep working on her abilities lol. Then we grabbed our party wristbands , which wasn’t too bad, and did a quick ride on Small World.

We then wanted to get to the Tiki Room before it switched over and so we could take a pic. The employees were smitten with our outfits and graciously took a picture of us inside the room itself—my fav souvenir! After, we did finished Adventureland—carpets, JC, and Pirates. Then it was about party time so we hit up the Tortuga tavern trail and Big Thunder trail. J and I decided to get in rides on Tiana’s. A huge upgrade for us was the coloring tables in the gift shop. Because both girls won’t ride it was a perfect way to kill time during rider swap. I always think I’m not a big Tiana’s fan because I loved Splash so much, but the smell of the water and the peppy music was great—it brings you back in time. I still wish they’d done the regular story and I was pretty shocked by Disneys bad show—at least 4 major animatronics seemed broken. Once we finished, we went to line up for the parade and it was much more crowded and cut throat than the previous party we went to. I brought the girls to trick or treat near the hitchhiking ghosts while J held down the spot and we could barely get back in. The parade was wonderful but the crowds awful. After, we went to Big Thunder, which neither girl had been on and I was feeling like they wouldn’t but somehow both boarded and loved it. So fun at night and so smooth!! Next, we did HM and loved seeing the ghost and Peter Pan. We then headed around to catch the fireworks and while we could get a spot it was hard for the kids to see and the crowds were thick and very hot. My fam was desperate for water at this point so I sent J into PhillarMagic to trick or treat with the kids while I went into Pinocchios for iced water. I couldn’t believe the lines getting into Pinocchios and think they maybe need more food stuff open. We did a ride on the Tea Cups then went into Tomorrowland for the space overlay. J said one time on Space was toning for him that day, but I really wanted the overlay. So it was about a 10 minute wait and super fun, but just as we were towards the end of the track, the ride slowly stopped and the lights came on.. just as I thought we were making good timing. Figuring nothing I could do about it I texted J and sent funny pics and not too soon after a young CM came to retrieve us. It was funny seeing the CMs run around as they would get lost thinking they were going up and going down and vice versa. It’s truly a maze. I got to walk off and they offered me a LL but the party was wrapping up so I just ran off and said thanks. I had promised the kids we’d try Astro Orbiter and they were waiting. I had never been on this and between tea cups, space, and now this I just kind of felt like I was in a whirling dream. A pretty one. Then we did a quick peoplemover ride, hit one more trick or treat and headed out. It was such a great day and while my head was spinning we really just did sooo much, and thank god we planned a no parks day right after. I’m always shocked how quick the party goes and did feel it was overcrowded, but we def made the best of it.

I really think they need to make some changes! We’ve been twice. The first time, it was the hot ticket–we met the Beast, etc. etc. When we went back, it was mildly crowded, but sad in relation to what it once was…That is an adorable photo of your DD though…

Oh wow! Great inside photo!

Ya.. I definitely think they need to go back to quick service. The croque monsier was soo good and the carts coming to you. So awesome. The only way I see the current way working is if you add more characters and actually get to meet them. Gaston, Belle, etc. The fact that the Beast won’t even come take pics is absurd. Disney is sleeping on this one and I wonder why they don’t care. We usually do one two credit meal when we have the dining plan so that’s why we did this time, but honestly we’re never looking for fine dining in the parks and prefer simpler menus.

Love your trip report - sounds like you had an amazing time!

We also stayed in Aruba last summer and I felt the same about our room. I recall other Liners agreeing that many CBR rooms are tired and in need of a refurb. I would agree. I really like the resort vibe though, and the main pool and waterslides are my favorite out of all we’ve tried (I even prefer it to the Poly pool). I also really love the Aruba location - crossing the pretty island is a pleasant way of popping over to the lobby/main pool/amenities, and you have several transportation options (bus stop in Aruba, Skyliner station nearby - but we even walked back from Riviera once after getting the MK bus back to there and it was less than 10 min walk). I would absolutely stay again, but think I’ll wait until there’s been a room refurb.

Great arrival day! And well done to the kids without strollers - that’s a LOT of walking, but I think the adrenaline and excitement somehow carries them through, ours also surprised me on our first stroller-free trip.

I love both the character experiences and the food here, and it’s a great combo for reserved seating at Fantasmic (which I think it still my favorite of the night time shows).

Ugh, sorry you felt back, but the heat is NO joke! We were in Universal in July this year and there was one day in Epic where it really got to me (thankfully we were staying at Helios so I could just go sit in our air-conditioned room for 45 min with an iced coffee and felt like a new person - while my family continued riding rides).

CMs are the best! I loved getting to spend time talking to CMs.

And now I want to plan a Disney trip! We had a great time at Universal this summer, but I’m missing my Disney fix.

Totally agree about Caribbean.. great pool and not so awesome rooms. Also getting to main area is nice when you have time but not easy.

Ya I tend to love the heat and it usually never gets to me. I’ve had to do some managing of my anemia this year and wonder if that had an effect.

How did your kids like Universal? We love Harry Potter and Nintendo, but I figured my kids won’t do the rides at Univeral.

Day 5 Break Day

After we practically moved into MK yesterday a full non park day was definitely needed. We slept in, went to the pool, and had some breakfast sandwiches. Love the vibe of a “slow” morning at Caribbean beach. Then we went to take showers after I tried one of those low hanging hammocks and fell smack into the Disney sand—which I imagine might not be clean. We went to Primo Piatto for lunch. Then headed out to the Boardwalk. We took a Skyliner and boat and we always take time to mosey around the Boardwalk as we got married here in 2013. It was quiet and we were tired, but the kids enjoyed some icecream.

Then we took a boat to the Polynesian for our Ohana reservation. We thought of canceling but weren’t sure where to move that meal so we kept it. I have some strong feelings about Ohana now. We loved their breakfast a few years ago. It’s a lovely location and so peaceful. I like looking out the window and you can see the castle. The food however was not at all to my taste and my husband who enjoys everything really didn’t like it either. I ate the salad and bread, which were really good. But the meat, noodles, shrimp felt like they were doused in a teriyaki and were soo salty. I really thought we might like it and was so bummed about the shrimp. I also had a terrible after-taste for hours. My fam enjoyed the bread pudding but I can’t do icecream so I just snuck downstairs for a Dole Whip. I barely ate so I had room and got to enjoy the dole whip as we did the monorail back to Mk to grab a bus. When we got back we debated which pool to go to and decided on the main as it would be our last night with pool time. It was Sat so we just caught some of the live entertainment and enjoyed the night time Carib vibes. It was a much needed and successful break day and now I know I will not do Ohana unless it’s breakfast in the future

Good to know - I’ve always been curious about O’hana but never enough to actually book it  Too many other character meals I haven’t tried yet!

The kids loved their first trip to Universal - but when asked where they wanted to go next year, had zero hesitation in voting for Disney. The Harry Potter areas and rides are absolutely fantastic (this was our priority and it did not disappoint - if I go back, it’ll mainly be for WWoHP). Our kids are thrill seekers and we waited to do this trip until they were technically tall enough to ride everything - but I think we discovered that the thrills at Universal go beyond what we as parents enjoy! Our kids liked Stardust Racers at Epic, whereas it was a one-and-done for the parents (it made my head hurt and scared me), and my husband even opted out of Velicoaster (which was a hit for the 9-yr old and a miss for the nearly 12-yr old, while all I can say is that I found it less painful that SD). I think we’re so used to Disney that even Hagrid’s was more intense than we expected! We would definitely ride that over and over again though, along with Hiccups - both great family-friendly coasters with a decent kick! I think you could easily wait a few more years before you take your kids - they’ll likely enjoy it more when they’re a bit older. Here’s our full trip report, if you want to have a look.

Thank you for sharing about your trip, and CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss. It is easily one of the best feelings in the world. A Dole Whip is the best way to celebrate, too. Of course in that heat, you have to drink it very quickly.

I love your Disney-bound. My girls are all about bounds and they LOVE the Tiki Room. I would totally copy you in the future.

Just to provide an alternative perspective, I love the food at 'Ohana for lunch / dinner and I left completely gorged both times I ate there! They give you way more than I want to eat. Not every dish is created equal and some people will like one more than another, but that’s the great thing about all-you-can-eat–you can order more of what you like. I especially liked the chicken, dumplings, and noodles.

The bread pudding especially is to die for.

At breakfast, I mostly just liked the pineapple bread stuff and POG and felt like I was really just paying for DD to see Stitch, which to be fair, was worth it.

In general, it’s way too expensive. I will maybe go once every 5 years to one meal or the other. Sebastian’s at CBR also has a good buffet with something akin to the bread pudding for much cheaper.

Quick question - when you say “no 3D”, did you just not wear the glasses or has there been a change to the ride? I’ve tried not wearing the glasses but felt like I couldn’t really see the “show”.

I missed the context but are you referring to Remy? They removed the 3D element last year. You no longer wear glasses and the images are projected in 2D, so there was a change to the ride itself.

I have ridden it since the change and I thought it was great, though obviously you lose a little of the immersion by not having 3D. They are supposedly going to add some props later.

Will read this soon. I def think we need to wait a few years, but it’s been on the maybe list for awhile.

Totally fair. I like a variety of food but struggle with super salty and some strong seasonings. I’m also not a meat person, which is why the shrimp was a disappointment for me.

Yes this is what I mean. 3d glasses are gone and it didn’t lose the spark for us at all.

Day 6 full EPCOT

Rest day worked it’s magic so everyone was ready for another park day. Having learned from past trips I didn’t make everyone get to the park 40 mins early like I would at Hollywood. Instead, we just kind of moseyed in at 8:25 and attempted to rope drop Spaceship Earth. However, it wasn’t open—we were told she was having a hard time waking up. We did bump into Mickey who was looking for flowers for Minnie, which was adorable. Then we had a 9am Guardians ILL. Emma wanted to try it and Katie would not but they had her go through the line with us for an easier swap. Emma rode with me and cried the whole time. Don’t think she’ll be back on anytime soon.. and I still didn’t get September. Next, we did Test Track. Katie kept begging to go over and over but we said we needed to do other things. She was very aware this trip that it might be a whole year before she gets to do things again. But we needed to get to our breakfast at Akershus.. I must have been hitting the emotional tired part of the trip as I cried at breakfast seeing the girls all dressed up to meet princesses. I could just picture them at 1, and 3, and how much they grow. The breakfast was great and characters were lovely.

Then we headed back to Future World and did Moana water, Nemo, Crush (who the kids always get bummed doesn’t pick them). After we went to the Land. We took our time doing Soarin and Living with the Land. As we left, I took some time just to stand and soak in the building.. telling J it’s one of my fav buildings in the world. I just love how it hasn’t changed. He probably thought I was ridiculous, but I was telling him how I could just picture sitting there as a kid trying an Italian grinder sandwich and thinking it was fancy dining with my dad at the table with us. Or eating there the day before my wedding in the bride and groom ears while Chip and Dale giggled. It sounds silly and sentimental but it’s 100% why Disney keeps pulling us back.

Anyway.. we went off to do Figment, and this one charms me more too as I get older. Then we headed to the continues. We always start in Canada (I know) and the kids collected cards. In France, we did Remy and decided to try the BatB sing along. I couldn’t believe this was something Disney made—felt like something off a random kids YouTube page and it made no sense. But we all kind of laughed absurdly through it and my kids are still laughing. We made our way through the other countries. This was the year J said he was going to buy a cuckoo clock in Germany—so naturally they don’t have them anymore lol. The showcase was very quiet and we took time to do American Adventure, which I enjoy. Katie and Emma of course napped in there. In Norway, I picked out the SNO perfume, because I love Laila. And then we ate at the Mexico quick service. We just got some kids meals so we could save a quick service for when we fly home. As time always escapes in Epcot we realized it was 8:20 and headed to 3 cabs, which already closed their line for the night. This was sooo frustrating as Emma loves it and felt very un-Disney. We’ve had another bad experience with that same ride when we rode towards the end of the day and they took 30 mins to unload us so they could clean the boats ahead of it. It’s the one attraction that keeps feeling like bad show to us. Katie begged to go back to Test Track and we decided YOLO and to run back to future world. We were able to get right on and with 5 mins to spare after we ran back in line. A core memory for Katie for sure.. the downside was the long walk out of the park walking against the bus crowds to the Skyliner. Then we had a good 30 min wait for the Skyliner. I think next time we should opt for an Uber. We always tend to skip EPCOT fireworks and never feel like we missed something. So overall, an awesome day!
