I am so frustrated!!! This is a vent. This will be my ninth trip to WDW and our third (that is a story in itself) in the past year. I know how this is supposed to work so I am not asking for suggestions, advice, or expertise. I just need to rant to people who will understand and sympathize before I throw something through a window!
60 days out. 6 am ready to go. Put in my first choice of difficult-to-get and I can’t see availability past our check in day. Annoying. I back out and try again. Same thing. Try #2 on the list. Lo and behold it works and I can see the whole week. I manage to get as far as the confirm payment page. When I try to enter my cc security code it wants me to LOG IN AGAIN. Okay. No problem. I do. Now I am back on the restaurant page. My reservation request is gone and, once again, I can’t see past check in day. By now it is close to 6:20. Those of you who do this 6 am thing know that every minute that ticks by is a reservation taken by someone else. Good for them, but aaahhhh! Now thus far I have been attempting all this on my tablet. Usually no problem, but maybe that is it. So I go to the trusty desk top computer, get to the web site, same €✓@_°¢£ issues! At one point it gave me the message to CALL for help with reservations instead of popping up with the calendar! Yes, I am aware I can call to do all of this, but I thought the point of the app and web site were to not HAVE to call. So now I go to dh who is making his coffee to get him to log in so I can try booking through his account. He wants to quiz me on the details of what is happening and why I can’t wait and try again later or tomorrow or next week. In other words he was no help whatsoever and I learned that after all of these trips he still has only the vaguest idea of what all goes into planning one.
I came here to vent because the Disney site was making me crazy and dh even crazier. I will try the site again now that it is too late to get my number 1 choices.
As for hubs, it is terribly tempting to NOT plan anything and let him see what exactly a fly by the seat of your pants Disney trip looks like. It would still be fun, but we wouldn’t do all the stuff he says he wants and we would spend a lot more time standing in line. Tempting , but I don’t know if I could do it. Planning is part of the fun for me.
Hopefully it was working for everyone else and the universe just decided to tag me today.
{deep breath }. Okay, off to try again. Send some pixie dust my way!
A jury of your (Liner) peers would exonerate you should you be charged with manslaughter.
Seriously though. I’m really sorry. That sucks.
ETA I stopped to reply at that point and then read further after posting. I have thought that many times about every vacation that I have planned for my family. They have no idea what goes into it.
I had the same issue. My reservation wasn’t linked properly somehow even though I saw my resort in MDE. Chat fixed it for me. I will say relax - ADRs are not nearly bad hard to get as they used to be. My bet is you can still get everything you want.
However, there are still some difficult to get ones, so I can understand the frustration. But if you are just trying to book the not-so-difficult ones, then you probably can go days/weeks and still find availability.
Qwerty, I appreciate your assurance. It was all I could do to not brain him with the coffee pot. I know he appreciates the results, but honestly, next week?!
And yes, Flutegarden, I know I should relax, but I appreciate the reminder. I should not get quite so stressed over a vacation. That is going to have to become my mantra. I was just all set to make my plans and the @)#*& site doesn’t cooperate. I am not a morning person by nature so this was a guarantee for frustration. We are going in September and, based on our trip that time last year, we’ll be able to eat almost anywhere if we can be flexible with times so that isn’t really a concern. There were a couple of experiences I wanted to try to get so I didn’t have to do daily checks for openings.
Thanks for the suggestion Jennifer. I do have a card set up. Why not having a card would affect the calendar I don’t know, but I am not a programmer so there is probably some explanation.
I was able to get one of my top three when I wanted. One is no longer available at all . One is scheduled for less then our whole group at a less then ideal time so it may end up dropped until the next trip.
I have done this often enough to know that is probably the best I could hope for, but ugh! 6 am is not my friend.
Thanks for letting me vent! 60 days until WDW! 58 until we leave!
Thanks. Dining is not my concern. If we haven’t eaten there yet we can try it next time. There are lots of good places to eat so if one is not available another will be. And I am on vacation . If I don’t have to shop for it, cook it, and clean up after it every meal is terrific! Up close with Rhinos though is something else entirely.
I recall in 2010 when Disney’s internet/wifi whatever was like warp speed. Now it’s the glitch capital of the world. If only a 3rd of the attractions are up and running first thing, why be there that early? I know - Not dining related, really. Except their broadband can’t manage the traffic, internal or external.
It’s been several trips since Disney recognized my password. Once I give it my log in (usually again, after just logging in - you know ) and it asks for password I ask for a code.
For general dining I agree. Most places are walk-in or close to it when we go in early September especially if we are flexible about timing. I wasn’t really concerned about meals. The Up Close with Rhinos experience though is next to impossible to get as is evidenced by the entire week being completely booked when I finally was able to get to it at almost 7 am. I will watch for cancellations, but I am not holding my breath. With only 60-80 spots during the time we are there that one needed to book at 6 am on the dot. Oh well. Something to look forward to for next time I suppose.
I was able to get the dining package for the closing show at EPCOT that I wanted so that worked out. Hubs wanted to visit the Space 220 Lounge. No luck, but he can check next week if he likes. We could go there for a meal as there is plenty of availability for dining, but I am not crazy about the idea.
Thanks for letting me rant. I appreciate the support. Happy travels everyone!
