Hello! Planning my DD’s (16) first Disneyland trip. We are experienced WDW travelers & I have been to DL many times, although not for many, many years (10+?). We are going mid-October, a Monday & Tuesday (10/20-21) & want to experience both DCA & DLR. I can’t decide if park hoppers would be a good idea or not. TIA! We plan to stay on property if that helps.
At Disneyland I think hoppers are ALWAYS worth it regardless of trip length
The parks are literally a stone’s through across a plaza that’s smaller than the MK hub. It’s so easy to move between them (if you have hoppers!) that it can almost make it into one giant park experience.
That’s sort of what I was thinking-thanks for the validation!
Definitely hoppers.
I’m doing a three day trip in May and have been having the same dilemma. After a lot of debate I’m not getting the hopper. With every plan I’ve made it feels like I was hopping not to get a benefit, but because I had paid for it.
The parks are open pretty late and in all my plans I can do & see everything at DCA in a single day. I’m going to do DL on back-to-back days.
The hopper isn’t really a big expense, but for me it felt like I would be wasting money & time to use it.
Hope that helps!
We visited Disneyland for the first time in June/July 2004 with 2.5 park days and decided to pay for hoppers (and pre-pay for Genie+). We ended up hopping only on the last day, because there was just so much to do in each of the two parks for us newbies!
I was torn on the value of having PHs in my final wrap up: we loved having hoppers on the final day because it meant we could re-ride everyone’s top rides and have a final visit to both parks, but that perk was probably not worth the money we spent on the privilige for a family of four.
Here’s our trip report in case you’d like to see.
FWIW, if we had wanted to do a really ride-heavy trip, we probably could have better maximized our LL priviliges to ride many of the headliners twice in two days by hopping from the start - I played around with that idea while designing our touring plans. But in the end we decided to go the leisurely route of minimizing walking/exploring whole lands at a time and taking midday breaks to rest.
One of your days will probably fall on an Oogie Boogie Bash day, which means DCA will close early. During the day DCA wouldn’t be crowded until around 3 when party guests can enter. With hoppers you could leave DCA and go to DL for the night, although DL will be crowded with all the other people who also hopped. Without hoppers you could explore DTD.
This is too late, but I thought id share that we used to never get PH and we always had great trips. Recently I started buying PH and it is nice to get LLMP for both parks. Necessary, no, but nice to have
Definitely 100% Yes!
