AP Renewal More Than 60 Days Ahead Of Time

Has anyone tried to renew their Annual Pass more than 60 days ahead of time? I was under the impression that you had to wait until you were inside that window (when the website allows you to renew), but after seeing a Twitter post from a regular park visitor I looked at the AP FAQs and found this: “Yes. If you are interested in upgrading your pass more than 60 days before it expires, visit any Walt Disney World theme park ticket window or Guest Relations location and they will walk you through your options.”

Just wondering if anyone has done this and what is meant by “walk you through your options.” Seems like it could be a way to save a little if you’re expecting a price increase shortly before you 60 day online renewal window opens (and happen to have a trip scheduled during that time).

Thanks.
