Anyone use Brightline Train?

We are going on a Disney cruise out of Port Everglades. DH really wants to ride the train so we’ve booked a room at POR and then plan to take the Brightline Train to Fort Lauderdale the next day. Traveling party is me, DH, and DS (16).

If you’ve ridden Brightline to any destination, what’s your experience been? What type of ticket did you buy? How far in advance did you purchase tickets? Did you have any discounts when you purchased?

Cruise is in October. Brightline has 50% off tickets for groups of three or more right now but that’s only for trips until the end of August. I’m hoping there’s a discount like this later on but didn’t know if I should go ahead and get tickets or not.

Please let me know your experiences.

I rode the brightline from west palm to Orlando and it was lovely! I think I did premium because for some reason, it was less than the regular (smart?) price. I did not use a discount and I think I booked it a couple months ahead of time?
Would absolutely ride it again

We were going to ride it but after adding up all the fees for luggage etc. we found it was cheaper to rent a car (one way) than ride Brightline. A LOT cheaper… like over $200 cheaper

Yes, it is pricey but DH wants to ride the train for the experience. He really wants to take a train trip across the country. I have no desire to be stuck in those tiny sleeper cars so Brightline is my compromise

Did the brightline in January- from Orlando to West Palm. Absolutely loved it. I chose the premium ticket and it was definitely worth it.

There are a couple of pictures

thanks!

I totally understand. This past winter, we booked a sleeper car from Belgrade, Serbia to Bar, Montenegro, for the experience; it sure was an experience (I didn’t take pictures of the gross things, the duvets & pillows were good though). It was only about $40 and we traveled through some of the most beautiful countryside and snowfall in the mountains. Thankfully the police took all the passengers’ passports through boarder control instead of making all get off the train at 3am to walk them through ourselves  They didn’t do that when we crossed into Serbia and it was chilly.

I have! I used it to go from Miami to Orlando (I was in Miami for work and went to Orlando for a little Disney time).

Definitely sign up for their newsletter, I get discount codes and coupons all the time!

I booked maybe just a week or two in advance - I didn’t plan to go to Disney originally! I bought a Premium. I think I waited a bit for prices to go down and then just upgraded my ticket from regular to Premium. I got there about an hour or so early and had breakfast in the lounge and then had a lovely lunch on the train (included in the Premium fare). I needed to do some work, and so sitting in the Premium car which had a row of individual seats was really what I needed. The bathroom was huge and nice and clean.
