Hey liners -
I’m planning a team offsite and due to a random set of circumstances, Florida once again works best for my team in February. We went to Miami the last two years, so I’m getting quotes from a few hotels in Orlando too to give the team a different option.
I got a quote today from Holiday Inn & Suites Across From Universal Orlando which was REALLY cheap compared to every hotel I’ve gotten a quote from so far. Suspicious, I googled reviews for it and found some fairly recent very scathing ones. I would love to hear from any Liners who have stayed there before.
Thanks!

Also tagging @NoBellePrizeWinner as they had the only reference to this hotel I could find and only stayed one night and the fire alarm had been pulled

I almost booked that Holiday Inn for my upcoming trip. It was $80 / night with all the fees included. I noticed the same thing. I changed it to the Best Western that’s right next to the Universal owned Endless Summer Dockside hotel.
That hotel is only a 4 minute walk! You can use their buses /shuttle to get to the parks. I haven’t stayed at the Best Western either, but it’s the same rate with better reviews. Plus, “sneaking” onto that shuttle is a blessing. It saves at least $20 - $40 a day on Uber rides back & forth to CityWalk. ($10 per trip to & from the hotel)
FYI - No one cares if you use the on-site hotel shuttle even if you aren’t a guest.

I thought it was fine but I honestly don’t remember much. It was our first night on a week-long trip more than a year ago. I do remember the chaos of the fire alarm and there were a lot of really pissed off clientele that couldn’t get to their rooms. The breakfast in the morning is a buffet at the TGI Friday’s next door. You get a voucher for breakfast. It was ok, but took a long time because there is wait staff that seats you and gets your drink order, etc., have to go through the payment process (even with the voucher) at the end. I bring this up only because I expected breakfast to be quick, maybe 20-30 minutes, since it was a buffet. But it took closer to an hour.
From my limited experience (and poor memory), I’d say the biggest “red flag” if you want to call it that, is that the hotel is mostly occupied by families visiting UOR and doing it as cheap as possible. So expect that kind of crowd.
