just wondering if there is necessity to have FP to see RoL late August or it’s a complete waste of FP.

My understanding is that it’s pretty hard to get a seat without either a FP or a dining package. The standby seating area isn’t huge, and people start lining up for it very early. It’s not a waste to use one for it, but it does keep you from using more FPs earlier in the day.

I am also going to add that you used to be able to get a good FP day of at AK but that is challenging 60/30 days out. I would not count on FP 4+ at AK these days. The shorter hours beginnings mid-August is creating issues with availability issues in my plans.
