I have seen a lot of Instagram posts and live videos from these events showing near-empty parks, especially near closing. Have you even seen Mickey wandering freely in a park? The TP Instagram page had video of him in HS, and it was so sparsely populated that he wasn’t getting mob rushed like he would if he tried to do this on a regular park day!
And now, gosh dang it, on what is supposed to be a budget trip, I have an alarm set to remind me to purchase AA tix for MK on 2/5 if they are still available. I’m hesitant to buy ahead because if there is weather that day - which is my travel-in day - there is a chance I wouldn’t be able to go. But if there are still tickets available to purchase that day I have a feeling you’ll find me there at the close of the park following that event.
Dang it Disney Math
I am thinking about DHS after hours in March. I wish I could find more reviews but most seem to focus on the rare characters which don’t really interest me too much. This is a short trip for us and we are only getting 2 day non-hopper tickets. So this feels like a nice option but I am also a little torn for the price.
My wife and I talked it over quite a bit, and we decided that we’re going to pass on the after hours event for our trip. We both think it would be really fun, but again, for our trip it would be a HS after hours event, and with RnRC already out of the picture, there could be some longer lines if any other rides have problems. In addition, since it falls on a Wednesday, we would have to give up our extended evening hours at MK. I know those aren’t the same, but we get those anyway with our hotel stay, where the after hours cost quite a bit more. This of course could change if we see lots of people posting pics of an empty park as we get closer to our trip dates, so I guess we’ll see if there are tickets left as we get close. For now though, we’re thinking it’s a no go.
Seems like a wise enough decision.
Another advantage to your choice is that, in the moment, you find you are already too tired to add a couple extra hours to the day, you aren’t out anything if you decide to skip it. We actually did that when we were last there. We had intended to hit up the Epcot Extended Evening Hours…but by the time the evening came, we were just too tired to bother! ![]()
This is always my dilemma. I would maybe pay for an after hours HS or MK if I could get the limited things I want done without lines. Of course then I wouldn’t go to those parks in ver short trips. Since DH doesn’t have an AP, this saves me just a fraction on money (Disney Math
).
But by 9, I’m usually tired and not really wanting to rush around. I want to stroll and snack and go to bed soon.
