Last year none of our luggage made it on to the plane so when we arrived, we went to DS to buy clothes and I got a bikini from Ron Jon’s. I didn’t try it on, we were exhausted after a 9 hour flight. It was way more revealing than I had expected and I skipped the pool after the first time ![]()
Oh no! That would be awful. My sweet 16 yo has a bikini she bought when I was not with her that has 6 feet of string that wraps around her body. Every time she wears it, all I see is Princess Leia in her Jabba the hut outfit. She’s not allowed to wear it when she’s with me.
The bikini I bought has quite a bit of string too ![]()
That hidden Joffrey’s is my favorite!
Yeah, that’s me too lol.
Thursday - day 6
Barely got up at 6:50 to try for a boarding group for Tron. DH got group 47. Woohoo! We all celebrated and went back to sleep.
Park open was at 9, so we figured we needed to leave the room by 10.
Stopped at the Kona to go and got myself an iced coffee first thing. It was amazing coffee! Then we took the monorail over to MK. On the way I was checking dining availability and found a 4pm 'Ohana. DD12 had been asking when we would go to 'Ohana, and I said we were planning to do Stitch bkfst instead of 'Ohana dinner. Everyone said they really wanted to do 'Ohana. ( of course, 60 days ago when I asked for help planning, no one had any opinions! I guess, we do ALWAYS do 'Ohana, so they probably assumed we would). So I gave up our 3pm Yak & Yeti for a 4p 'Ohana.
Funny side story…our first time at WDW with kids (DD5 and DD1), we had 7 nights at Art of Animation with free dining. It was the first week AoA was open, and they must have mistakenly had it included in the early Chase Visa holder pre-sale. I had gotten rooms for us and my MIL&FIL. We had one too many TS ADR’s (one! Ha! I was so ignorant) (this was back when there were paper fastpasses, so not a ton of planning needed back then). I went to a guest services kiosk in MGM Studios and asked them to cancel my 'Ohana for later in the week. The cast member asked if we had ever been there. I said no, and he said, “No. I can’t let you cancel 'Ohana. It’s seriously one of the best restaurants on property.” I kept the reservation, and we paid for one of our other meals out of pocket. Of course, he was right. My FIL especially, was hooked! I wonder now which meal we paid for out of pocket. I know we did CRT (2 cr), HW&V, Crystal Palace, Tusker, Akershus, so I can’t imagine paying for any out of pocket…
Love it! ![]()
Anyway…back to 2023…We were just killing time until Tron, so we did tea cups ( not me), Little Mermaid, and spent some time at Casey’s splash pad. Then Goofy’s coaster, and spent quite a while in the circus store. DD16 wanted some fries, so we all ended up mobile ordering lunch at Cosmic Ray’s. We have an ongoing joke that we always end up eating at Ray’s by default, because that’s where we always seem to be when we’re hungry, and it seems like such a lame choice, yet here we go again. I ordered a chicken salad and it was SO good!
At about 12:30 our boarding group was called and after a bit of a wait, we rode Tron for the first time! Even DD12 rode, and enjoyed it. We all agreed we prefer GoG, but still fun and very smooth.
We headed back to Poly, and DD16 and I left to pick up a Sam’s club order of groceries. On the way, we stopped at a thrift store and found an amazing variety of Disney pins for 3/$5. There wasn’t much else there. A few Holiday refillable mugs, but nothing much of interest. I was hoping for some cool beach or park t-shirts. Saw a few, but none that interested me. After Sam’s, stopped to pick up a few things that hadn’t made the list, and barely made it back in time to put away groceries and get to 'Ohana. As we were unloading, DH says, “where’s the bread?” What?! Somehow the bread didn’t get in the Sam’s order. The kids had fought over the last piece the day before at bkfst, so that was kind of important! I ended up buying a loaf from the Market at Poly.
Supper was great. I had heard it was lacking with the new process for bringing out the meat and the switch to the peel and eat shrimp. I did miss the good grilled & sauced shrimp, but the peel and eat were huge, and cooked perfectly. It wasn’t quite as cool without the skewers of food coming around the dining room, but we definitely had plenty of food, and all was great!
After supper we hung out at the pool. Kids swam until we made them go to bed. We got them out to watch the electrical boat parade. They looked, said, “cool.”, And got back in the pool. DH, DD16 and I watched about half of the MK fireworks from the beach. Then we all went back to the room to get to bed.
Friday - day 7
7am - up for Tron boarding group lottery. DH got #13! We figured we better get up and get to the park ASAP, since park open was at 8 with early entry at 7:30 due to MNSSHP that night. Our group was called before we even left the room, so we were really feeling rushed, and I forgot my coffee in the room. Nooooo! The crowds were really low, so we got in the park quickly and headed straight for Tron. As we were crossing over, we noticed they were running EMPTY trains for Tron. We walked in walked right through the Tron queue. We were next to board when the ride went down. They announced that the ride was down with no ETA of restart. We could wait it out or leave. After about 20 mins, people started trickling out. A few minutes later, they announced an evacuation and gave us a Ll to come back anytime the ride was running before park close.
On the way out of Tron, we took a bunch of photopass pics with Tron props.
We hit Space Mountain ( DD12 and I even rode. It was horrible. It’s just so rough). We did the Carousel, Haunted Mansion, Small World and Peter Pan.
We had a 5pm Yak & Yeti ADR, but the forecast was for Thunderstorms, and we weren’t super sure about whether we wanted to go to AK. I was searching ADR’s and a 4pm Storybook came up. Again, we were not planning to do this one bc we have done it before, and it’s pretty spendy, but it sounded so fun, so we booked it!
We got on Tron around 1. We went on People Mover and it was starting to look like rain, so we decided we should head to WL and kill time there until our ADR.
Somehow on our way, we stopped at Monsters Inc. DH was “that guy”, so that was fun.
When we came out of MILF (um, yeah…better be careful when I use that abbreviation!), It was pouring and the sidewalk was flooded with about 4 inches of water. We geared up and made a run for the gate via Tomorrowland Terrace. We got out the gate, and found out the boats still run in a thunderstorm. By the time we got to WL, it has stopped raining. Our feet were soaked, so I was looking for some shoes or socks, but could only find $30 flip flops, so we went outside and rung out our socks, and just wore them.
This is the view from our balcony. We are in Moorea which is pretty far from everything, but close to ticket and transportation
Forgot to mention that Drizella loved my hair!
Hey! That Guy! ![]()
We had pre- ordered Magicband 2’s for everyone that shipped to our house. We all got solid colors for $10, except DS9 chose a sparkly silver. It turns out the sparkly silver is a sticker, and by day 2 of swimming and sweating, the sticker started peeling off. We went to guest svc and they gave a $50 credit for a new one. While we were shopping at WL he found a Star Wars MB+ he really wanted for $47, so we let him get it. More on that tomorrow when we set it up.
With 30 minutes until Artist Point would open, we started the hidden mickey scavenger hunt. Suddenly, the lobby was FULL of characters. We got photos with Donald, Mickey, C&D, Stitch, Eyeore, and Tigger! What an awesome surprise!
Dinner at Storybook was so awesome! Food was amazing, and I think we saw the best Snow White ever, and the queen was really fun to interact with - in a scary kind of way.
When we came out, The lake was calm and peaceful. We rode the boat to MK and rode the Monorail to T&T. Explored the Poly shops, and headed back to the room. Gog2 was on TV, and we could not get the casting to work, so we watched it with commercials. Ack! It was just like the olden days, during a commercial break, we made the kids get their jammies on. The next commercial everyone brushed their teeth. It took way too long w/ all the commercial breaks, so we ended up going to bed before it was over with a promise to finish it later.
