ADR in 4 days, here's what I'm thinking.... Liner input welcome!

I think it was @LTinNC82 that posted about it on chat? I think she ate there so no one ever has to…

If you are looking for Pandora advantage with the Tusker PPO, I have read that there really isn’t one. I’m sure it can be helpful for other parts of the park though. Akershus can give you an advantage at FEA if you are finished fast enough.

I think the rule of thumb is to plan on 90 minutes for a character meal.

We saw Fantasmic on our first trip. It was fine, but we don’t feel the need to do it again.

I will probably cut back on the early mornings, lol. I’m undecided about the TSL EMM so maybe eliminate that, and possibly Akershus also, which would mean only 3 EARLY days and a little more spread out. I am a naturally early riser but fairly worthless after about 7pm lol. My kids get up pretty well for school so I know they CAN do it, but not sure if they will be grumpy about it when we are on vacation. I mean C’MON you’re at WDW, there is FUN TO BE HAD - GET MOVING! :joy::rofl:

LOL Ok… maybe I’ll rethink this one! Other suggestions at MK? How about the Plaza? That’s one I had been considering.

You know, maybe what I’ll do with some of these is book double reservations - one PPO and one a little bit later. Then I can decide if I want to keep the PPO depending on how I do on fastpasses. If we are good for FPP then I drop the PPO and keep the later one, but I’ll have the PPO if we need it…

Yes! I ate there so no one has to ever again because it was terrible. Awful. Worst meal in the world. The only positive was my waiter was nice (and even told me to skip dessert there) and there was plenty of glorious air conditioning. Please go to Skipper Canteen instead. Unique food and environment. Even for picky-ish eaters like me.

I like the way you think

Thank you for “taking one for the team”.

LOL… well… in light of that vivid and heartfelt review, I will defer to your experience on this matter! Skipper Canteen honestly wasn’t even on my radar (not sure why) but I just looked it up, and both the atmosphere and the menu look great! I think that’s the winner!!

It is really delicious and unique. I tried DH bc I was trying to visit new places and it was just so truly horrid I want to help others avoid making that mistake. The ‘cold’ sides were just sitting on the bar for servers to grab. Cold, hard cornbread… ugh the flashbacks…

I think you’ll be too full from lunch at 50’s to really enjoy HDDR. I would maybe rethink that.

I love a 10:30-10:45 reservation at Tusker House to enjoy both breakfast & lunch choices.

If you want to eat dinner at MK, maybe consider Liberty Tree Tavern instead? We enjoyed our meal there last fall.

@scrappydeb we do tour alike . I also vote for a late breakfast at TH.

Agree with @PrincipalTinker … I ate there in Fall 2017 just to get out of the heat and it is NO where what it was in it’s earlier days. It wasn’t bad for what I used it for but I definitely wouldn’t include it n an a plan or make an ADR for it.

I’ll definitely shoot for the earlier part of the lunch period for 50’s. If I do like an 11:30 or 12:00 lunch, with the 6:15 HDD sitting, I think that part will be ok. :grinning:

Hmmm… so you’re suggesting I change the ROL package to go with the TH breakfast, and make it later. I do like that idea, and it also drops one of the questionable PPOs I was looking at. I was looking forward to trying Tiffins, but if I really wanted to, we could do a dinner there on our arrival day.

I’m so glad I posted for input here! Whatever I eventually settle on, it’s so nice to get these different perspectives and suggestions!

We did ROL at TH brunch.
Then another day did the Lion King package at Tiffins.

I hadn’t even thought of this. We saw the show on our last trip and really enjoyed it! I just looked up the package, and I see that it also includes the safari?? (ETA: I see now that Tier 1 includes the safari, Tier 2 does not.) OK, now I’m interested in this! As of right now, I’m only seeing this available up through the end of September. Do they release these only a couple of months in advance?

I am thinking about swapping our first two days - arrival day at HS, Friday full day at AK. With two full days at AK, we could do both the Lion King/Tiffins package, and the ROL/TH package. That would also give it a somewhat earlier night on Friday, with the Universal day on Saturday, which will be a very long day.

This is sounding like a good plan! I had been semi-set on AK for arrival day since it is closest to our resort, but HS is almost as close. And I’m feeling very “iffy” about HS for this trip anyway… excited but apprehensive about the SWGE chaos. So I think I’d rather have that be the 1.5 day park vs. AK.

I have heard great things about the Tier 1. We are doing the tier 2 because we are on free dining and it is included. Let me know how you like Tier 1, I plan on taking a trip with less people and would love to do this package.
AK is my favorite park. The first trip I did as an adult, I had no intentions of going there, then we loved it. We do 2 days there every time.

Do you know if the safari on Tier 1 get us something more than the regular safari? For the $25 cost difference (x4) I am not sure I want to do Tier 1, if it basically just buys us a safari FPP. But if it includes something more than that, I would consider it. It looks like I can’t book this for a while anyway, so I guess I have some time to think about it… lol.

Yes, it is a special “behind the magic” safari. Our guides met us at Lion King where we sat in a reserved front row section. The safari loaded in an exit area. There were 8 of us on the safari with two guides. They stayed as long as we wanted after the safari to answer all questions.
