Adding Experiences (tours, etc)

@len on my trip the most frustration I had with TP was trying to add Behind the Seeds and Up Close with Rhinos. Initially, I added a break for 15 minutes prior. However, the breaks add a mandatory minimum 10 minute flex time. I then added a full 30 minute buffer, which sort of worked, but TP had no idea where I was or where I needed to be. So I added a very very short meal at a spot close to locate me nearby. This sort of works, but again, those “meals” also have a mandatory minimum flex time. The entire experience was very Rube Goldberg-like and very frustrating. Is there a way to get these added in a way that gets you to the location 15 minutes early for check-in?

Hey feep-

Thanks for sending those in. I think we can model them, since there are standard tour times listed on Disney’s site. I’ve asked our developer David to confirm that we can.

I’ll let you know later today what he says. When’s your trip?

It recently passed, but I figured I could hopefully make the process easier for someone else in the future (or myself if we do more experiences).

When you have a sec, try creating sample EPCOT and DAK plans. You should now see Behind the Seeds and Up Close with Rhinos in the “Add Break/Reservation” section of the plans.

I tested these and optimized plans with them, so they should work. Let me know either way, please. Thanks again for sending this in!

Both worked pretty well. They each had me there 10 minutes early. Both tours are an hour long and I couldn’t change the duration.

Ha! Yes. Disney says the tours are an hour.

What would you want the duration to be? If we let users set the duration, I’m concerned they’d make it 10 minutes.

I think mandatory minimum of an hour. I also think it would be good to put down the scheduled times like a show since these are all predetermined. That way the user can just pick the “showing” that they signed up for, but also prevents the user from picking weirdo times.

Just a curiosity too, but in your post trip survey I don’t recall seeing the ability to rate these types of activities. I know they cost extra, so they won’t be for everyone, but we really loved these experiences. I think we’ll try to do the caring for giants one next time. I actually thought they were a pretty good value for what they were.

My mom and I did Caring for Giants a few years ago and loved it!! Can’t remember what the price was back then, but I remember it being very reasonable. Highly recommend it!
